Skeleton Ships

  • So, i think the skeleton ships are a great addition and something fun to do. they also pose a threat to keep you on your toes at sea, however, their greatest flaw is that these skeleton crews should not have infinate magic balls. They also should not persue ships into outposts or spawn within range of an outpost and continuesly bombard the ship. out posts should have some kind of defense against skeleton crews, as a town of people standing there aimlessly while it bombards their port is a little rediculous. i would also like to add that on the occasion i play a solo sloop and run into a skeleton crew outside of an outpost only to be jiggballed about a dozen times unable to actually do anything, with is both frustrating and makes me just want to quit playing the game all together. i enjoy the enocunters but to have then come into outposts and be able to magic ball you infinately whether the anchor, sails, or jigg, just makes it an absolute annoyance to behold, and if you are playing solo you might as well skuttle your ship since between dancing and trying to bilge theyll just follow you indefinately.

  • @totaleexitium I find that when you're solo the best tactic is to get the jump on them and land the first hits. If you can get holes in them and then aim for their cannons they will usually sink before they are any threat. Even better if you have managed to get some cursed cannon balls yourself then you can sink them within about 20 seconds.

  • @Octopus-Lime

That’s great in theory, but what do you do when you start running out of supplies?

I kid you not, in one session (which I was soloing until I got someone in for the last fight, I had to solo the following:

    1 Shadowmaw Meg
    1 Kraken
    4 skeleton ships

The Meg and Kraken happened at the same time and the skeleton ships happened EVERY time just after I left an island. Needless to say I did sink, but only once and because I ran out of supplies.

I had one person helping me on the very last skeleton ship though, and all this took place in the span of...two hours or so.

I don’t know about you guys, but this seemed like overkill to me. Only thing that could’ve made it worse would be a storm.

  • @cyberguardian77 Well lucky for you, that's 4 more ship towards the 'Legend of the Sea of Thieves' title ;)

    3 actually...as I sunk once remember.
That is kind of beside the point, but I guess you’re right. I’m around 170/500 now, so still have a looooong way to go.

  • CCBs need some sort of diminished returns, AI or not. No one should be able to chain cast jigballs with the same duration.

  • I got question to Rare
I play the game everyday form the start( a hole year ......long time on the seas )and never seen a Skelly brig or skelly sloop , gallys roaming the sea's but what about that two types of ships ? Are they gonna to add them to the game ? It will be awsome to see all the ships types as skelly ships roaming in the world not just the players brig's and sloop's .
Anyone have some info about that ??

  • @jj-boom-boom skelly sloops do appear in the wave event, but I agree they should be spawning in the world like the galleons do.

  • @jack-flintlock true to that matey skelly brig and sloop should spawn in the world and free roarm also like the gally's do. Hope that Rare will add this in future patch especially when now we get adventure mode soon :)
