Evil Mermaids

    So I've been following the lore on the islands since the game began. Some of it pointed to the DLC's we've seen. But I'm most keen for one bit of lore to come to life in particular.

    Mermaids are only in game as the friendly type that save us when we get stuck at sea, or the statues you need to beat up to get some gems. But the lore on the islands points to a much darker side to the mermaids , and one I would find incredibly entertaining if they bring it in 2019.

    Evil mermaids could be a majour threat when traversing underwater caves, storms, the fog , or even just off the coasts of islands. They would stop people simply jumping for ships instead of using the ships detailed combat , as they'd only be able to return to their ship of the moon was in the right cycle , because if it wasn't , it may not be a helping hand , but one to drag them down under . It could add a serious shock factor to the game and could have such a cool storyline along with it .

    @nicknack-xtr I have wanted mermaids since the game came out. I definitely like this Idea, might need some type of breather mask to stay underwater longer.

    I can imagine seeing these “evil” mermaids making there presence know sooner or later. They will either be very happy or very mad from the destruction of all these statues.

    yea sirens would be cool, thats what they are called right? the mermaids that would wait at sea to trick pirates and kill them

    @nicknack-xtr I like the idea! I think maybe not as common as I feel you'd want them to be but this is just my idea haha. I can for sure see this probably becoming a thing if it isn't already a plan for the future! Thank you for the suggestion and keep them up! Have fun and happy sailing! :D

    Yeah sirens would likely be the name of the bad ones . Would be good to see as another threat in the sea . Also stops people jumping out of their ship without considerations first !

    @nicknack-xtr yea other things i think would be cool would be a giant croc that roams the land and the seas, or giant crabs that roam the land and the bottom of the sea

    I am at the point where I dispair of waiting for a Mermaid update.
    I've seen some videos where people are interpreting mermaid paintings / symbols on rocks, underwater cave with structures that make you think of an aquatic civilzation.
    I watched so many times the comic-con video where you see the transformation of a pirate in a mermaid. So yea... I am ready!
    I love the sea of the game, the waves, the depth, everything about it. I just want to explore it as merman. A pirate hit by the curse of the mermaids :)

    I've always assumed/hoped that Rare would introduce potions and that we could use a potion for prolonged underwater exploration.

    Also, yeah evil mermaids would definitely be a good threat for underwater exploration, especially around ruins.

    @shibby-544 Yes potions would be great, you know the empty building upstairs above order of souls? I always thought that would have something to do with potions or vials that contain the soul of a siren. So if u kill a mermaid captain you capture its soul in a potion/vial jar.

    @shibby-544 i think alot of the underwater part of the map is kinda empty though, if they did give us the ability to go deep underwater i dont think there is much to see, but maybe they could work on it

    a potions store would be cool, and maybe you need to fish for the ingrediants and there you can also craft cursed cannon balls. i would love that, it gives you something fun to do that can help you fight against rng threats like skelly ships

    The Evil Mermaids should be part of a big aquatic update, giving life to that vast sea.
    Caves to discover defended by sirens, fishing, whales, dolphins, turtles, etc. etc.

    Only can say if you get your hands on a copy of the tales of sea thieves you'll find some explanation and idea where such location will be in the future.
