Islands not rendering properly

    Hi I'm a long time fan of the game but just have a problem at the moment.

    Recently I have been experiencing a glitch where, on pulling up to an island, it will take a few minutes (possibly longer) until the blocky mush becomes an island and the pop-up appears saying the island name.

    I don't know why this has started happening as it has never been like this before but it is now happening every time I get to an island and is really annoying when we are in a hurry.

    I don't know if this is to do with me or the game. My graphics setting are on Cursed by the way and I was never experiencing it earlier (and it was cursed before too).

    I don't believe this is something you can "fix" but is down to the way the game is streaming the islands to the client. However, it is always worth sending this to support to let them know you are having issues using the link below (if you haven't already).

    If this is the same glitch as was once very common, then it is because your storage doesn't have enough space, causing things to take longer to load. Clear out some space and it should fix itself.

    This is an old bug that had mostly (to my knowledge - and certainly in my experience) been fixed. This last patch has brought back many old bugs and has led to speculation about whether the last patch was applied to the base version of SoT and rolled out, undoing many or all older bug fixes. Now whilst I doubt this is the case, there's plenty of people that will tell you otherwise. It also gains more credence in the statement that Rare are reworking how all future patches will be done and the new system they're adopting to make future patch/content downloads smaller.

    Since this last patch, I've experienced many bugs and glitches that I've not seen since much, much earlier versions of the game. I have had whole islands flat out refuse to load at all and only a journey to the ship of the dead and back fixes it... well... it will either fix it or lead to the infinite black loading screen (another returning bug). So... maybe there's some credence to the theory, maybe not but with any luck, all of it will be cleared up on Feb 6th with the next update.

    I believe Joe was discussion textures and other issues in this week's stream, though not entirely directly towards the issue of island LOD loading.
    I have seen it and it is not uncommon for threads to pop up, so anyone experience this issue really should follow Musicmee's advice and raise a support ticket to Rare.

    It's the most common cause of the issue. There's a chance yours could be different.
