I swear to god Rare, it's like you dont want me to play your game.

  • So message pops up, Server shutting down in 20 min". I get it, you gotta work on you game, it really needs work. I'm struggling to fund a Sunstone but get it done. I have 8 min to get from Devils Ridge to Ancient Spire Outpost sailing into the wind, no prob......until you attack me with a Kracken immediately after leaving island, IMMEDIATELY. The escape point is 180 degrees behind me. I get free and proceed to run aground into Devils ridge because it was 180 degrees behind me and it spawned right off shore. I get clear if it. A meg pops up and a Skelly ship starts closing in. I keep afloat but run out of time and server shuts down as I'm about to run aground on Outpost and drop anchor.

This was the first island I visited after leaving Ancient Spire Outpost, my spawn point for booting up game. I wasnt sailing the seas forever, just tried to make one run and return.

Not the first time a series of events like this happened to me. Time and time again I get attacked by Kracken multiple times in a session, enough with the Kracken. Im a solo sloop. And stop it with the skeleton ships. They attack too often to even play the game. I've had them chase and battle forever and get the best of me, that's fair. Respawn stock up and set sail to have another pop up out of water. 2 skelly ships with in 45 min of starting g game is not fun.

Just dial it back a bit, one enviromental problem at a time.

My only saving grace is that I downloaded this frustration simulator off of game pass and didnt spend any money on it specifically.

Hey Rare, YOU HAVE A GOOD GAME.....STOP MESSING IT UP!

  • @majorraucous is that an actual complaint?

  • @majorraucous That was a series of unfortunate events.

But also rather exciting. Imagine that hadn't happened and instead you got your loot, handed it in, and logged off. Pretty bland I'd say. You may have lost a piece of loot, but you also had a story to tell.

That's part of the beauty of this game. Losing loot is of so little consequence that even a negative experience can result in an exciting story.

It's all about perspectives, I guess.

On another note, it's not unknown for features to be toned down after the event they were introduced in. This may be the case for meg/kraken/skelly ships this time around. Time will tell.

  • @majorraucous
I agree that they really need to tone it down with the skelly-ship spawns they spawn way too often and you shouldn't have to deal with 3 at the same time, Litteraly the other day me and my friends were sailing had about a 100 cannonballs and enough wood and bananas or so we thought until a kraken spawned on us we killed it in around 2-3 minutes but fog started to appear, Megaladon and skelly ship also spawned it was a tough time we litteraly burned through all the supplies and had to scuttle as soon as we got to the outpost and turned in but it was alot of loot so i ain't complainin so they really need to tone down the skelly spawns and have no more than 1 PvE event happen to you at a time now don't get me wrong i love PvE events they really make the seas have an element of danger
But it's too much if all 3 of them can spawn within the span of 5-10 minutes i'm assuming they will want to add more PvE events in the future and if they don't change the current system you'll eventually have to deal with way too many PvE events all at the same time and that won't be too much fun
But i do have to say this in your case you clearly had your time stamped out for you and the fact that you didn't get to it in time dosen't mean the game is bad you had a stroke of bad luck
    get over it stuff happens

  • There is times I rarely have encounters and there is times I do have many. Not exactly needing turned down in my opinion and others that ive played along side with. Its basically like trying to conquer that challenge that was given to you.

Yeah going solo can be called "The Hard Mode of SoT". Any solo player should already know this game was designed for groups of people.

Also hit up the suggestions forums and put your idea out there and make suggestions. The developers do read and listen.

  • @majorraucous

Welcome to the world of Online Gaming.

Technology works the way it does. They are very good at keeping the servers up and running and they gave you a heads up that it was on the way. You took the risk to go and try to fetch something with 20 mins left on the clock and then blame the Developers it didn't pan out.

The new threats are perfectly balanced and random. If you decide to Solo Sloop, you are choosing the hardest mode in the game - want an easier time, get even one crew member makes the world of difference. I play solo myself and I am able to deal with all threats (most of the time) - don't play hard mode and then ask them to nerf it.

  • It seems like there's something off the last couple of days especially. I'm getting a lot of doubles and triples - ship & meg at fort, kraken/meg/ship, etc.

It's pretty awesome with 2 or more players, but basically a wipe when you're solo. I don't want to cry "nerf" because that's lame, but maybe at least look at the stats, and see what % of solo sloops wipe when they get hit by 2 or more things?

  • You guys aren't wrong. I've only been playing about a month. As of super recent, this feels like my experience far too regularly. It absolutely was not like this before.

  • I gotta say that playing solo isn't more a Hard mode, it is more Hardcore-Suicide mode.

I am almost every 10-15 minutes getting attacked by a boss or even by a combo. I don't have time to restock, because i almost leave one isle and get attacked (most of the time by Meg and Skel ship together).

I don't have time to restock, so i just give up and let the meg/skel ship sink me and restart. From 10 chests i got from a day game (3 hours), i lost 8, all because i get attacked all the time (and before anyone come saying "Learn to deal with them", try to deal with them with 0 cannon balls, 0 wood planks... because i am almost all the time with 0 due to constant attacks).

I really think these random encouters should be modified to some lesser, or the game will just be non-playable to Solo gamers. I am not more scared of PvP (i am PvE player), i am scared of all that much random encouters which i am having like crazy.
