Enemy player name color

  • Currently, their names are white, and friendly pirates names are a very light green. It'd be nice to have the enemy player names as a red or something?? Maybe orange so it's not necessarily an automatic "enemy" type feel. Anything other than white!

  • @drgiggles42069 Making the name tags red would most likely send a large majority of people into a frenzy whenever they encountered an enemy ship; even though it's such a minor change, many people associate red with being "bad" or "evil" so it would lead to less circumstances of people teaming up. The developers don't want us to assume that every ship on the horizon wants to kill us, which is why they made the nametags white - they could be going to hunt you down for hours or they could be trying to offload their unwanted chests. I reckon if they were gonna change the name tags, that they do it to ships in the same alliance; blue seems like the most appropriate colour, but anything to distinguish allies from enemies would be fantastic.

  • It was once red but they changed it to white cause its a more neutral color. If you go to the official Sea of Thieves youtube channel and search for the 2017 E3 gameplay trailer towards the end of the trailer two ships are fighting and the enemy names are red. Although i would like if they changed the names of the allies in your alliance to a different color. Especially when were battling skeleton ships with another ship and 3 ship arrives and it gets a little hard to identify which players are from the allie ship and which arent. But thats a small problem.

  • @spunkus-skunkus Yeah, I understand. I just meant like any other color than white! lol

  • @biasedcarton824 Yea. They could make alliance player names light blue.

  • @drgiggles42069 if ya think about the colours they could have used not a lot of them are as neutral. and some colors would look really weird as names in my opinion.

  • @isaac-occam yeah something like that would be perfect

  • @isaac-occam I recently turned in some loot because each crew in the alliance thought I was part of the other crew. I turned in 5 or 6 items, about 8-9k gold in total, before they noticed. As fun as it is, you can't really blame them, especially if they are PuGs.

Considering the game isn't telling you about leavings and additions to a crew, not even your own, I think they should definitely change the color of allied players names.
