Ahh a [mod edited] resorting to name calling, what else is new. Angry Joe's review explains perfectly what this game lacks and what it needs, there are literally 100s of comment's on thia forum asking for more content. The game went from 2 mil players to 100s of thousands and in 3 months it'll be a ghost town, I want Microsoft to do well as I own a few shares but after years of disappointment I'm throwing in the towel and would be better off purchasing AMD stock or God forbid Sony than this sorry company. • @thereasonyoumad What is a "snow chimp"? Never heard that. And I never called YOU any names. I have far too much respect for you, your education and your incredible industry insight and gaming acumen. Seriously what is a "Snow Chimp?"

  • @dark-shadow9056 Sorry but most of people can play at this game for 10$ with the pass. At the moment I play sea of thieve for free! So $60+ is a useless point to make the people upset! If you want to pay 60$ is your choice in most of cases

  • @my-dirty-muffin said in Salty:

@donklol I think I know the problem...don't take it personal but you don't have a job do you? If you did...you would only have about 10 hours a week to play video games.. at leasts thats my situation. This game is priced $60 with that comes certain requirements.. like content. Fortnite is free and battle grounds is $20 both have more content than sea of thieves... With my 10 hours of video games I like to spend it on games that are worth while and as it is now... SoT is not. I want it to be! I see potential and have a soft spot for Rare in my "snowflake" heart. When you get older you'll learn to expect more from things. If you want to say I'm spoiled because video games used to be released when they were actually done... then I guess I'm spoiled

Yea I'm on paternity so I gotta bit more time but even when I'm working I'm still very much so a night owl and I'm up quite late as I only need like 5 hours sleep to function, but I get the point you're trying to make. You may see potential, and you may have a soft spot for Rare but that doesn't justify yph spending $60 on a game you ultimately are not happy with, there is a trial, you could of just trialed it but you blindly jumped the gun and spent the cash and it's not mine nor Microsoft's nor Rares fault that you're not happy with it, I'm not saying you should of been more careful on what you spend your money on but you should of at least considered the option to trial it first, again I'm 28, I won't say it a third time because you're not paying attention. Games back then we're released complete sure but most lacked content too to be honest, just next mission, next quest, next map, and in reality we wouldn't get half made games if people stopped supporting them, but the problem is that people do support them, when I was a kid a game preview was a demo, you got them from gaming magazines and you only got one mission, now it's almost compulsory for game previews to be £40+ and despite being 'demos' people start riots that the game isn't complete, well what do you expect, sure this game isn't a preview but your problem with the content is your own, that goes for anyone else who thinks it lacks content, stop buying stuff you don't like its as simple as that, I know for a fact I'm financially savvy enough to know what's worth £ and what isnt, this game despite being great fun isn't worth the price tag, not many games are

  • @altair920 The $60 point is really more of a point about bad ethics..

  • @touchdown1504 it's from a movie from 1934 i think.

  • @thereasonyoumad Interesting, how do you know what race I am? I get it now, you are saying Snow Chimp is a racial slur against white people? Northern Europeans? Thus you have called me a European Cave Monkey? Or did you mean all white people? I am confused you need to set me straight, I don't get racist jokes very well.

  • @thereasonyoumad said in Salty:

@touchdown1504 it's a European cave monkey, you may be uneducated but you do know that your race came from the Caucus mountains in Europe, you didn't know how to walk upright, cook food(hence why you under cook steaks etc) or bury your dead. They're basically animals that are being exterminated as we speak by disease, the sun(sunburn and skin cancer), and war. Basically you are being used to make the world better for the take over of the aboriginal man of this universe.

Haha what a surprise that you're bringing race into this now, clutching at straws mate, clutching at straws

  • @my-dirty-muffin I do no see the problem, this game can be play for free, for 10$ or for 60$. The first two option can be use to see if you like the game if you need at all costs to buy it for 60$.
Worth 60$ at the moment? No of course.
In the future this game will be receive some upgrade that will be justify that price?
    Most likely yes.

  • this is devolving into a bunch of personal attacks. you started off actually discussing valid points of view. jeez

  • "hey guys! If you think that this game has almost no content and you want to complain about it you are only 12yo spoiled brat!" Good on you for liking the game. Other people seek value for their money.

  • @roscom79 sagte in Salty:

Why are people being so salty on this game? I think we are now spoiled about games that want instant gratification. Yeah, it's a grind but a lot of games are a grind.

You forgot to mention that a lot of free to play games are grind games ...

Here is the problem : If i like grind games because of the missing content and the fetch quests .. why should i pay 60 dollar or 70 Euro for it if i can get the same grind system for free with another game ? For 60 dollars i can expect more as that what i can find in free to play games too .

  • I want more content as much as the next guy, but i'm also having fun and enjoying the game I have now. I've wanted to be a pirate ever since watching Pirates of the Caribbean when i was 13 years old. So for me, there is a huge level of fun from being immersed in this world, talking like a pirate, digging up buried treasure, getting drunk and falling off my ship. Not only that I want to support this TYPE of game, especially from a developer that gave me so much as I was growing up. 60 bucks is steep, but I am willing to take the gamble that it will be well spent, since I already have gotten so much enjoyment out of it.

lol don't worry about it bro if you've never seen this small film called Cave Monkey you wouldn't get the joke it's hilarious and it's just a parody on racism nothing to take seriously my guy. A lot of people never heard of it but it's a classic indy movie from 1934 I think.

I didn't bring race into this, your boyfriend did when he started to talk about race in his prior comment.
This game must be pretty c**p if you guys are here rather than sailing the seas on Sea of No Content.
Last chance for you to try again

  • @thereasonyoumad But, you are making a racist comment in a public forum against white people or more specifically northern Europeans? And that is ok why?

  • Sidestepping the content issue(We all no matter stance want more content)I think part of the problem is the marketing tactic these days of making a game cater to everyone.

The people who seem to enjoy it either enjoy the pvp or enjoy the relaxation of sailing and exploring. Those are two very opposing play styles. In a nutshell this gives us the sometimes heated back and forth that takes place with the suggestions. You have 2 opposing play styles trying to sway the game into their styles favor. Chances are under the "cater to everyone" tactic no one will see any of their suggestions come to life as acting on one may cost players from the other side. While I have come to enjoy both aspects of the game and hope they find a way to move forward with a balanced hand it will not be an easy thing to do and makes me uneasy.

If anything the salt is expected. They managed to make a game with a community that is polarized as bad as any political debate. I enjoy the game even as it stands now and am not among the salty but the salt is understandable and many cases justified.

That's exactly what I'm talking about, people allowing their emotions to drive their decisions. I like everyone else here loves the pirate genre of games but I like most Semi-educated people in this world want value for my hard earned money, I look at indy games that a very small group and even solo creators creating great games for little to nothing and in most instances they have much shorter development periods but continue to produce complete but very entertaining games for $10 or less.

What I'm trying to figure out is why one person can make a game like "Wlecome to the game 2" and it be only $10 and has much more content than this $60 that took 4 whole years of development. Gta 5 was made in 4 years and kills this game in content. Rare should be ashamed of themselves for allowing such a pedestrian product to hit the market with their name on it.
This game isn't worth $60 it isn't worth a dime as far as I'm concerned it's the beta Access for full price? Plz stop defending this guys come on

What would you call this? A micro aggression would be an understatement, a bit racist? Absolutely but no go on kid

  • @thereasonyoumad what part exactly? I pointed out the type of folks that are known to use the slang term "shill". I also made reference to entertainment with "dance monkey", referring to the Trump campaign when actors and actresses came out of no where to tell everyone how to vote. Dance Monkey was a mantra used to remind them their job is to entertain. I get that liberal mindsets have trained you to believe everything said is against you, but truthfully it is not. I don't know you, how could I possibly make a racist comment. No idea what race you are. I figured you don't know my race, which is why I was wondering what the significance of a snow chimp is. Come to find out, you are just a bitter straight up racist. Which is fine, be what you want to be, but you still don't know me, and makes me wonder why you believe snow chimp is a fitting thing to say in a forum filled with white folks from all over the world.

  • @roscom79 dijo en Salty:

Why are people being so salty on this game? Yeah, it's a grind but a lot of games are a grind. Give this game some time if it doesn't work out don't play it.

First, the problem is not about the grind. A lot of games are grindy, look at Monster Hunter World for example. That game has a grind but the grind is meaningful and gratifying.

Sea Of Thieves grind is just not, because its only about cosmetics so you play the same way at lvl 10 on Order of Soulds that at lvl50.

On your second point about giving this game some time, Rare had 4 years already.

  • @thereasonyoumad Humans have emotions. Games by design, are emotional. They give you emotions. they make you happy, sad, mad, proud. People buy games to enjoy them and have fun, which is an emotional thing. I can think of no reason to buy a game better than it gives you joy/fun/entertainment.

  • @thereasonyoumad though i do like me some cheap indy games too. Undertale rocked my world

  • I apologize to all I have offended but I love you guys and I want us all to get what we deserve and that's a pirate game that's worth $60, I want a game that'll hold my attention for hours on end I don't want to stop until my wife calls me up for dinner. I want the game we've all dreamed about, I want amazing battles between the pirates and the British, French, Spanish etc. I want a reason to care about the game, a base building aspect, i want to be able to have my own fleet of ships in my clan and become an admiral or general of some sort, I want to be able to fully customize my ship into a vessel that breathes fear into all that lay eyes on her. I want to feel like a real pirate when I play a pirate game but this just begins to become unnecessarily tedious at best after the first day or so. Do i want to collect animals for 20mins than look for castaway chest for 20mins then lets go fight the only enemy in the game skeletons no npc ships? Why or you can go for forts! In which you rinse and repeat the last option kill skeletons take crapy treasure chest. Oh and don't get me started on the so called kraken. On the bright side the kraken is a summary of this game, It looks great on the surface but there's absolutely nothing there underneath. Good day people I have an actual job that I must unfortunately attend to, I'm sure I will accomplish much more in the coming hours than Rare will with this games lack of content in the next 4 years.

I paid $60 from my pre order, and back then, 10 days before release(last day you can cancel) , there was no possible way for me to know the game will be so lacking. Since I already paid and can’t get my money back, your point is invalid.

@roscom79 because this game is lacking in a lot of areas. Don’t get me wrong, I’m really hopeful for this game. I’ve been supporting it for over 2 years. I’m trying to enjoy it but it’s really hard.

Also when you spend $60+, or even more depending where you’re located, you’d expect something with more than just 3 main factions that are the worst grind I’ve ever seen. Even worse than gta 5 online.

    Thats why people are upset

So having a s**t load of fractions would make it better??
having PvE guys on the sea sounds cool, but you are the first who ll say disable it, a PvE killed me while PvP ...

No, no it wouldn’t. I was talking about more content in general. Maelstroms, sea beasts, new ships, etc etc

  • @dark-shadow9056 I repeat, instead of a blind preorder of a game you do know nothing, you could wait, try for free or for 10$, and then buy it. Normaly someone preorder a game if is absolutely sure of its contents.

Your "there was no possible way for me to know the game will be so lacking"
it does not hold because there was: Alfa, Beta, Stress testing, videos, information everywhere. The game it's practically the same as the beta, so you could know anything about the game months before the launch date and decide accordingly.

  • It's an arduous thankless grind to get clothing I won't use and a new ship that won't give me any additional worth or power in terms of progression. The tedium involved in loading and off loading loot and resources is getting painful. The concept is amazing, the gameplay is mostly fun and laughs can be had in abundance with the right crews BUT its not harmful to expect more from a game with a long life expectancy. If we all just went along with what's given to us without saying anything then the developers may not feel the required pressure from their player base to evolve and grow the game in fundamental ways needed to keep a dedicated following interested. I love this game but I do feel that when we first leapt into the Sea Of Thieves expecting to be completely submerged and emmersed in this pirates island and ocean world, we found its depth only went up to our knees.

Right, I could have, but made a big mistake. And so did many others. That’s why people are upset. Now that it’s out, I’m hoping rare will fix the lacking Areas.

  • @dark-shadow9056 Well of course, I only said that you cannot blame Rare for a mistake that you committed. Then obviously, me first even if I love the game, everyone hope for some change, that in my option will arrive

Yeah, I just hope the change happens before everyone leaves and a game with such potential is destroyed.
