Me and 2 of my buddies completed a skull fort got the key and sailed away without a single person following us. 30-45 mins of having the key I guess the server changed but we were in the same location. We didn't think much of it so a few minutes go by and another skull appears on the same island. We still have the key to the fort because we were unable to get our loot due to others surrounding the area. As we approach the island we notice another galleon there so we camped it out at the nearest outpost to keep an eye on it. Finally they complete they get their key with their loot (we still have the key to the same island). A few minutes go by we go to the island only to find the doors still open and there's no loot. We waited for up to an hour even sailed away to see if the doors would close and the loot respawn but nothing. Basically we had a key and got nothing for it. I don't know if this a glitch or what. I tried to look it up but it seems like no one else has experienced this. It's really frustrating when you put a couple hours into a game and get absolutely nothing for it.
Skull fort glitch? Help please
That's not really a glitch, just unlucky. When you migrate servers, the only data you bring with you is the players in your party, what they're holding, and what's in/on your ship. Nothing else in the world is moved with you.
So, when you migrated servers, you kept the key, but the forts loot was gone. It came back when the new server got a skull cloud on the same island, but since another crew emptied it out, you lost your chance.
TL;DR - It's not really a bug, it's just really unlucky.
@darealpastrami we had a galleon and a sloop on the island with us trying to get the key. We saw our chance to grab the key and get out of there and took it. Didn't expect anything like this to happen.
@freecellqt I don't know bro like I said this has never happened. I tried looking it up but found nothing so we didn't know what to expect.
@rm-spectre so this is how i've been told it works by a player that has had it happen.

You get a key from skull fort. run away and dont use it. about 1 hour and 30 mins later ( + or - 30 mins) the same fort respawns cuz no one has gotten the loot.

If you do server hop the key stays with you, if a skull fort is currently up, you can use that same key to skip all mobs and just open the door, making all skeletons dissapear and making loot show up.
