Hahaha wow if you get sunk with coops

  • You can't get more from the merchants. Have a quest for two chickens. Neckbeards in galleon kill me and sink my ship for literally zero loot. So I go to an outpost to get coops. Nope can't get more. Hahaha wonderful game design.

  • It's called a loss condition. You lost. Don't sink.

  • @xxxxnoodlexxxx

To be honest the whole merchant alliance quests feel completely not worth it in terms of efficient gaining of loot.

    Also noticed this, sloppy design!

  • It's not hard to find more coops/cages on islands. You get plenty of time to recover unless you're waiting till the last minute to cash in. The hard ones are the random message in a bottle quests that give you 2 days and no storage to start.

Merchants are the easiest to level in with all the different loot they take. Fancy silk and tea turn for a lot of gold too

    Cracking me up here.

You got destroyed therefore they are neckbeards.

You activated a mission and they gave you two chicken coops. You lost the free chicken coops they gave you and you want 2 more.

Do you not understand that people could exploit this system to get unlimited coops if you had your wish.

Those coops equal loot even if empty. You lost your loot. The only "Hahaha" as you say is that you think you had a point here.

You mean the point that they're the only faction that forces you to abandon a voyage because you got sunk? I think that's a pretty valid point there, chum. The merchant quests are annoying enough without having to abandon if your coops are lost.

  • Just cancel mission and start a new one. Not that hard to do.

They are the only FACTION that gives you an ITEM to complete your QUEST. You have zero point. The item they give you has value to other players and to yourself even if not used for the quest. Why should you be able to go grab more then the ones they issued to you just because you lost them?

If you had your wish I could meet another sloop in game chat and say "HEY WANT TO BOOST FREE COOPS" and we could keep cheating until we each had 20+ coops. Easily exploitable solution you seem to think is a good point.

  • @ghost-0f-dawn This is a stupid reply. Stop being stupid.

@Sneakler If you leave your merchant at base rank even if your reputation is 30 you can get free coops by cycling voyages (cost 0)...so you are wrong and we already all do that, you call it cheating, i call it git gud. Every time I start on a server i do it until i have 20-30 coops and then do hoarder missions and clear out islands. Coops should be bought/gotten apart from voyages for sure just for quality of life. An empty cage has a value of absolutely 0. Your only valid point in this thread is that OP is an idiot for calling the guy who beat him a neckbeard.

  • Wish we could just buy more cages and crates.

You are correct about the level 0 coop exploit. If I wasn't leveling up my merchant alliance with skeleton forts instead being a non gud nub like yourself that has to grab 20 coops for free perhaps I would have remembered this scrub strat you have been partaking in.

Please git gud in your reply. JK bud...your a legend...but yeah I leveled up my promotions before I realized this but we have someone in our crew who still is level 0 exploit status.

  • reading through these posts, sure you shouldn't be able to just go grab more chicken coops. That being said, have you turned in a chicken without a mission? Find a random coop fill with chicken, return chicken get 10-30g or pirate one for that matter, almost not worth it outside of missions. Pigs with out a mission are not much better and probably avg. 50g. Balancing needs to happen. I think they did some of these to discourage piracy of merchants maybe, but what about explorers or loot find while doing other quests. If i find a chest or a skull that i don't have a mission for i don't get penalized 80% of the items value. but in the merchant alliance you do.

  • @xxxxnoodlexxxx

Restarting a merchant mission cost like what... 40 gold or more?

And heres a tip, we do this: Take a merchant mission, collect the crates, cancel the mission. Rinse and repeat until you have the desired number of crates. Start with a treasure hunt or order of souls, pick up all animals that you can on the way. And finish the "voyage" with a merchant mission and hopefully you will already have all the animals and you can go the designated outpost and deliver all loot. :)

And if you sink with crates, its really not a big deal AT ALL. I mean yeah it can make you mad but its cheap to start a new one. Just cancel the one you've got that you cant finish and thats it. But if you really dont want to finish it because lets say you already delivered a few animals, you can find crates randomly placed on islands. They're not that rare either. Good luck.

Why are you so damn hostile? Like seriously you've been confrontational, salty, and trying to instigate a fight in literally every topic I've seen you post in. Is that what you enjoy in life, trying to pick childish arguments with people over the Internet? U so tuff bruh

  • The merchant quests aren't worth the time compared to chest hunting. The money needs to be higher per quest.

You kidding me? You seen how much the merchants want for a simple wooden bucket? 2,750 gold pieces! Imagine how much coops and crates would cost :-O

A crate of cannonballs is 150 is. The amount of gold you get from merchant stuff is pathetic.

easiest? really? Do this little experiment: go to all the streamers out there, and check their levels. Go on the discord and check people's levels. EVERYONE HAS LOWER MERCHANT LEVELS.

Well considering I've only completed 2 merchant quests and my levels are tied with the other companies, it's pretty easy to level from what I've seen.

Diving at wrecks and hording all the cages you find is the way to go.

  • @sneakler It's not an exploit to use the system in exactly the way they designed it. So...Get over yourself mr high horse who doesnt know how to do anything but forts. I am not even lvl 0 merch anymore, eventually it becomes more efficient to cycle lvl 30 missions because each one gives more coops.

@XxxXnoodleXxxX Some people don't know any other way to communicate because they dont go outside to learn social skills like most of us. That or they are just abusing their anonymity.

@sir-rhavi My merchant is my highest, and I spent the most time on Hoarder missions. If you do merchant right it's the easiest to level.

  • the coops/cages/baskets are objects of value. if you lose them, that's on you. be more cautious.

You honestly make a great point. I find coops on almost every island, you just got to look. You shouldn't get free coops if they get lost.

  • @solysdayga oh my god, is this. Thing?!?!!??!?!?? Wholly Molly I'm doingthis tomorrow!!!! I can't believe I never thought of this!!!!!

This is a little hypocritical, considering your generalizing anyone who sinks you as "Neckbeards"

  • @dimwitmegalodon they are however required to reach Pirate Legend, much like the other factions, you can unlike the other voyages per-determine what you will hunt down to deliver specific outposts for a better general haul of value in terms of Gold and rep, due to their variations of wild life, tough you have to also know some of the many areas were they are populating, but yea its rather sloppy that you cant gain new crates if you loose them, but then again you can just cancel the voyage and do a new one to generate new crates, you pay less for the voyage contract then what you actually get paid for completing it after all.

  • @thelobolegend To be fair, OP didn't say "anyone" who sinks them is a neckbeard...just these ones in this galleon. Which is stupid in it's own right but not entirely unreasonable to be angry at the mindless goons who live for nothing but mindless pvp.

  • Regardless of the situation that the OP was in, and I already posted this, the design of the Merchant npc is garbage.

It’s disjointed, you can’t be efficient and chain quests, you place a voyage and then run back to get crates? How is that even allowed to make it past a design whiteboard? The merchant quests are time consuming, find, chase, feed, bs...and finally, its not pirate at all. Pirates steal stuff, transport rum, pillage places....the merchant quest npc is so out of place compared to the other two.

And as I said before, the coops, crates, and baskets should be an item you can select on your quest map wheel. It is NO different than the shovel for digging treasure chests. We don’t need the shovel for anything else but the Gold Hoarder voyages. Does the Gold Hoarder hand us a shovel when we take a voyage? No. So the merchant should just provide us the order, and our map radial wheel populates with the appropriate crate. Once done, no more crate to select

Done. Code it up and ship it so we can make the Merchant more tolerable.

They actually are more efficient than the gold hoarders. All you gotta do is cycle through voyages until you get one with a gold animal, and use the catalog on Reddit to see which islands have the right animals. guaranteed 2k+ each voyage, not including anything you find along the way.

If I'm playing solo on off hours the merchant quests are by far the best ones.
