Outposts need to be a safe zone

  • I think the outposts where you sell your stuff need to be safe zones. Way too often people camp them waiting for unsuspecting people to turn up with a ship full of cargo and blast them, take their loot and sell it.
I know, it's a pirate game. That's fair enough. But when you've put in all that work, made it back to the outpost alive only to be robbed at the "safe" area really sucks. It takes a lot of the fun out of the game if you are unable to defend yourself for whatever reason.

Like i said, yes it is a pirate game. I understand that side of it. But when you're there to make money and it gets stolen from you in such a horribly cheap way, The fun just goes away. Whether you agree or not I'd say it's very frustrating when you're the victim of trolls who actually gain something out of it.

  • @martymcpyt I agree, completely , pirates didn’t camp places to sell their booty. They attacked them in open sea’s or the island the treasure was at. I read another suggestion about having a bounty placed in dirtbag campers . That’s all good but you can’t tell who is who to hunt them down. So outposts should be safe zone

  • This has been brought up several times and Rare has gone on record as saying there will be no safe zones in SoT. Right now the best way to not die, is to avoid other players.

  • I 2nd this, outposts should be a sort of sanctuary. where you could go and talk to other pirates if you wanted to. it would add some more social aspects to the game for sure.

  • Please find the mega threads devoted to this topic. This is such a shallow and misguided suggestion. Don’t want your stuff ganked at the outposts? Look for a ship or plume of blue smoke parked there. Either sign would tell you someone is already there. People accused of outpost camping are often just people who arrived there a few minutes before you cluelessly pulled in. There are more outposts than ships on every server. A person truly camping outposts would have to guess which of the several outposts someone is going to. They would be there an hour or more before someone strolled up. Try it. Hang out at an outpost and see how long it takes before someone actually shows up. It is not a common event. Outpost camping would be one of the slowest and most boring methods for gaining gold.

    Sounds super fun.

Every time new people got added to the alpha we would see these posts pop up. Lol

  • I like that there aren't safe zones, and hope it stays that way. The thrill of the game is in the risk and high stakes. After looting, I take care to sail to an outpost further from other players (the corners are pretty good).

Also, it's a pirate game; don't cry when you get plundered.

B*********e maybe. Why have pirate rules when they are not enforced? It's kind of silly. I'm loving the game and have only ran into a few griefers and when I do I just abort game and get into a different server, but should I have to do that? Even if the safe zone was tiny around the outpost islands it would be something and still allow for others to attack before the ship arrives at port.

  • You people are so close minded. Take the horse blinders off your face and look at more than your own problems.

A safe zone would break the core concept people would run to them and hide untill left alone and that’s ridiculous.

The concept of never being safe is the whole point. Maybe if people were more attentive and less lazy they would be much more proficient at the game and have far less to complain about.

Non consensual PvP is part of the game people. Learn how to properly deal with it and stop complaining.

Edit: sorry if this was too real for you I forgot everything revolves you right? -_-

  • @sandollor Lol whos' pirate rules?

  • Absolutely not... stop trying to diet coke the game and straight up go play something that has safe zones there's millions of games with Safe Zones..

A-FREAKIN-MEN.. Thank you.. Tell homey to go play the billion games out there where the whole game is a safe zone. Jesus.

  • Yes! Couldn't agree more, spent two hours taking a fort alone only to have two campers get all the loot for the hard work they were too lazy to do themselves, albeit I went back and blew the outpost to heck until they swam to their mermaids and took off, but it almost ruined the game for me apart from the fact that I like pirate games, but even pirates had honour to an extent. If you do the hard work to get the loot and make it back to an outpost unscathed then you should be rewarded for making that effort by being able to keep and sell your loot, if others want to take it off you from the seas then fair game because they have to work for it.

No safezones pls. Been over it ten thousand times. Can we move on?

  • this is already confirmed it won't happen

  • @martymcpyt i agree with you with the camping the outpost but i think the reason outpost aren't safe is because the devs want to give a feeling "you're safe nowhere you go so be cautious but you make a great point".

  • It dosn't bother me' i like the pvp aspect of the game' but i see where they are comming from' If Rare goes on about pirate code you do know one of the biggest pirate Havens was nassau and was governed by pirates and had a pirate code' they didn't wait around for other pirates to bring home there booty and rob them, They went out and got their own booty and went back to nassau to sell' i bet they didn't have to sail all around nassau just to make sure the coast was clear and then grab their loot and make a run for it to sell the stuff. But like i said i enjoy the pvp but i do still get what some people are on about. But i'm just glad that there arn't to many idiots that grief and do this sort of thing..

This is entirely your fault. Your beliefs that youre entitled to that treasure before it gets back to the outpost is ridiculous.

Stay vigilant at all times. Be creative. Be attentive. Don’t blame other people for capitalizing on your lack of attention to details.

  • I do think it would be kind of cool (for griefers) if they did get punished on it.. but I don't think a safe zone is the solution. Maybe violating the pirate's code could be something along the lines of making a new faction called The Island's Guard... This gives players incentive to protect other players from being griefed at Outposts. That or maybe a griefer will be cursed or something... I don't know how teh programming would go on that.... it would be tough but something along these lines will help.

    TELL EM!!! lol

  • @ctl-x-alt-x-del so much for social, though.

  • @martymcpyt I've never had an issue with people waiting or camping at outposts and I've logged a big amount of play time. Ambushing people in a high traffic area sounds like a pirate to me anyways. There are no safe zones or trolls in this game, just pirates. Get good scrub.

  • @martymcpyt Rather than outposts be safe zones, you need to be more careful as you approach one. Have fun losing treasure by learning from your mistakes and how you can avoid these issues in the future. That's a big part of the game.

  • The outpost MUST be safe zones if you want to keep players coming back. I was playing with my boys and one of their friends and we were about to turn in a chest and just as I was getting ready to hit X I was killed. That is absolute baloney. Once you hit the island identification that you are at the outpost it should automatically be a safe zone where no one can kill. I have 2 boys and they are playing with a handful of their friends and I am playing with a handful of my friends. All of us are using the 14 day free trial period for a game pass and none of us will purchase this game if you can't at least give people someplace to reach with their loot and be considered safe. GOOD JOB RARE!! You just made a game I hate more than The Division and I haven't even paid a dime for your game, paid $100 for theirs.
