Disconnection issues

  • Good day Rare,

Since launch I've been running into issues with disconnecting, but it doesn't seem to be entirely game related. I'm just trying to find a solution to my problem or if that isn't yet attainable, at least narrow it down some. First, here's the problem I'm running into.

When playing with 2 friends of mine, I'm constantly being disconnected from the game. Sometimes it's only 5 minutes (after getting in and logged onto my pirate), sometimes it's almost 40 minutes. It's almost always started by what appears to be a disconnect between my client and the server. I'll be on the ship and it'll start rotating on it's Y axis, sometimes I'll fall off the ship and sometimes it's brief and everything goes back to normal, but often times it'll disconnect me from the game. Saying something about Xbox Live having issues.
This is where I'm not sure it is game related. When this happens, I'm chatting with my friends in Discord and the call with break up during that time.

Here's what I've done to try to alleviate this issue.
I've checked the network settings for the Xbox app and do see that my NAT shows as moderate. I've read some places that can be an issue and other places people have had issues while it's shown as open. I've tried using 'cmd' in admin to change this, but it's either on, off, or reset as far as I can tell.
I've also done port forwarding for the recommended ports for Xbox Live and that doesn't seem to have done anything. Unfortunately I have Xfinity and their portal doesn't really give me a lot of the control I'm used to with Linksys.

I don't think I've been able to find other solutions online, so I think this was all I've done so far though it felt like so much more with how much time I've spent on it. It's super frustrating because my friends (who've not had any of these issues and had to invite me back a dozen times before I just called it a night) and I had been returning to an Outpost to turn things in and got raided by a few pirates and I was completely useless in defending our loot due to my disconnecting. I don't think I can bring myself to play this game at all until I figure this out. Any and all advise is welcome.

P.S. I'm sorry if this isn't the place to post this. I'll repost it where it needs to go if that is the case. Thank you.

  • @redsatyr5 Never mind. I just finished playing for 30 minutes just moments ago and have had none of the issues I've been having since launch. I've been logging on during the evening (PST) and just now I logged on in the afternoon with entirely different results. This evening I'll be trying again and will post if I get the same results I just got or if the problem comes back (which would lead me to believe it's not at all on my end). I'm just wanting to make sure if there is something wrong on my end that I get it taken care of before I go to log on to play.

  • Ahoy @redsatyr5!

I hope you do not have problems again and have a nice voyage, but since I am here, in case I do not see your post, I leave here something that could be related.

So to fix several issues with the Teredo adapter you have to follow these steps:

    1. Make sure your router doesn't block the connection
    2. execute the following command:
netsh interface ipv6 set teredo enterpriseclient
    3. disable the Teredo adapter with the following command:
netsh interface Teredo set state disabled
    4. activate teredo:
netsh interface Teredo set state default
    5. execute the following command again:
netsh interface ipv6 set teredo enterpriseclient

After this you should be able to obtain a stable connection
Note: This all has to be done on the command prompt running as an administrator
To see if it worked you can check it with
    netsh interface Teredo show state
There shouldn't be any errors anymore

  • @el-espectro-0 this does not fix the issue.
This was reported by multiple users (europe, and pc players)
Disconnects are at random periods (doesnt matter if you are in a group or not)
I think is server region related (as i manage to get on another server where i had 200ms latency and i got no disconenect) , yet everytime im getting on a closer server (30-90ms latency) im getting the random disconnects.

  • I have the same problem. Till now i opend all the ports recommended for Xbox-Live and run the postet toredo executions before playing.
But nothing changed. It's extremly annoying to lose all the treasure again and again.
Is there anything else i can do to fix this?

  • @hereorpheus3664 @Soulwailer Then, I recommend that you contact the support, I hope they can offer you more help.

I'm getting tired of the solutions that I have been gathering not working now... 😔

  • @el-espectro-0 Thank you for posting that, I do appreciate the suggestion. This was another thing I tried that I forgot all about and unfortunately did not help. I'm really hoping this will all be resolved fairly soon. I know the devs are working really hard to get this game up to snuff and I look forward to being able to play without connection issues.

  • I tested different things yesterday. What seems to work for me was to disable ipv6 on the router. After that there were no more disconnections till now

  • Looks like Rare has solved whatever issue I was having. So glad to be able to play the game on even footing with others.

  • Heyy

Ive been having this problem too... i just turned off ipv6 and haven't had a dc in a few days

  • Same problem, plz resolve this bag! W*F...i paid for this game a lot of money and cant play normally... Microsoft support said: "We know about problem, but we can do nothing....nice answer"
