do you think they should add the man of war in the game?

  • @cnt-thelrox
Right, i understand how the sloop gets away. I do it all day.
How does the galleon get away from man of war ? They have the same sailing profile and the man of war is faster. ..it just seems that the galleon would become obsolete.

  • Anything that allows more than 4 people to play together. But for the shorterm I'd ,like the ability to form a group with two ships.

You could use the same argument on the sloop but the sloop isn't obsolete.

The sloop has better acceleration but a lack in top speed compared to the galleon. Its also disadvantaged when it comes to firepower but its turn radius is tighter than that of the galleon.

I would use the exact same concept on the man o' war here.

Let's imagine and compare the galleon to the theoretical man o' war.

The man o' war is faster than the galleon when both are sailing with the wind but it has worse acceleration and their turn radius is far wider than that of the galleon. They have more firepower and manpower compared to the galleon just like when you compare the galleon to the sloop.

    Sloop = small
    Galleon = medium
    Man o' war = large

All ships follow the same rules of balancing that Rare put down. I merely extended it on the man o' war. Its a simple concept but it works for the sloop and the gallon. I think it will also work for the man o' war.

I apologize for my basic english. I'm typing this down on a phone and don't want to spend too much time on a text.

  • May i guide you all to @shoothere4exp,
There is a topical 5 ship meta and a progressive design for a MOW.

Shoots if you read this, please link us in.

    Ta

  • Of course, but well balanced, 5-6 players, some drawbacks as stated in the thread, challenging handling, hard to turn, high draft.

I would need to know what disadvantages it has. Pretty much sounds like a giant unkillable dreadnought as is. It would basically be a floating safe zone unless its got faults.
If it cant turn well or cant get close to land or can't sail upwind or the 16 guns take longe to load that could balance it, maybe.
But with 8 people 16 guns and the huge size its going to be a big safe zone to do quests in if other single ships have 0 chance. Seems to go against the balance thing.

    Not a bad idea.

What if it was a mobile, temporary, tactical high ground, voyage-specific and exclusive, one-of-a-kind ship that becomes automatically a target out at sea.

Some sort of a player-led mobile raid / king of the hill platform.

It would require teamwork of at least 4 mates due its size and to slowly navigate wherever the ship is needed sets another layer of difficulty to it. The location of the ship would be marked on maps every time they drop the anchor at an outpost and they would have a specific flag to state their business so that any nearby players can try to intercept it.

Big theatrical dramatic gold vein to plunder or take control.

Whenever one changes captains or gets sank, all mates involved would get rewarded. In case it gets to its destination, every player who were able to harm it and the crew that sailed it there gets rewarded.

Could be a nice event once a month.

  • @mythicalfable It would be nice but I don't want it temporary it would lose its fun

  • @roughleech03117

In other words you want to own it instead of just getting to raid it once a month?

  • @mythicalfable
I kinda had that thought too that any time someone spotted the man of war it would show up on the map for a minute.
I think the ship is going to take multiple crews to take down. Otherwise 8 safe zone pve players can just take it, ignore all ships and just do thier missions with no fear of defeat because if one ship attaks them 16 guns firing will decimate any 4 man crew in seconds and the man of war could just slowly move along.
Unless this is rares idea for safe zones lol.

  • I think it would be a pretty cool idea, Mabye you could fit a 10 man crew? But there would have to be some balancing issues that would some along with this idea

  • @misterdoomed

Well, the way I arranged the details I find it quite impossible to do any voyages other than the one the man-o-war is limited to be sailed to. Changing captains would effectively dispose the voyage of a crew responsible and replace it with the one the ship is destined to go for.

  • @mythicalfable yes

  • @roughleech03117

Depends from the devs. As long as it was properly balanced, I'd might try one as well. The mobile PvP raid target would suit myself personally better though.
