Hellooooo fellow pirates!

  • Very random question's here for you today but i'm curious and I feel as if the community for this game is absolutely amazing! What is it in a stream that grabs your eye and keeps you drawn in? And if there are any fellow streamers here what is the best advice you could give to a somewhat "newb"? Not sure if this is the right section for this but I plan on part time streaming because I love the interaction and I'm ecstatic everyday just knowing I get to get up and meet new people and possibly touch their lives in someway. I've forever been a gamer and its my absolute dream. I know it's hard to get started but I'm working on my own brand so to speak and my vision. Any feedback is great! Good or Bad. Much Love.

    Coming for a big twitch viewer...

    Just be yourself. Be vocal and entertain your audience. You don't have to "try" to entertain. Just talk about what your doing in game and engage your audience when they have questions. Definitely get a camera. No camera makes it near impossible to succeed IMO. I could go on, but that's the main thing. Just be authentic and engaging and that will make you interesting to watch.

  • Not that I know anything about Twitch streaming, but you need a consistent schedule, a webcam, a nice microphone with a pop filter, a second monitor for chat and notifications (try a chat client called "Chatty" if you need something lightweight.) Try to maintain a clean background, set up your Nightbot, Streamlabs notifications, etc. Have scenes for "Stream Starting", "Be right back!", and "Stream Ending". Work on some scene overlays that link to your Social Media. Make your Stream name unique and easy to remember. Try to read chat out-loud and always acknowledged a viewer's name; people typically like to hear their own names on stream. Set up a few of the Twitch Extensions and also create your own Discord server for the purpose of the Stream. Most importantly, do what you can to network with other streamers of your category. Hosts are a good way to gain new viewers. In general, you should be giving twice as much time and effort to other streamers than you expect them to give to you. This means watching their streams, talking in their chat, etc.

    If you're just looking to do it part-time that should cover most of what you're looking for. One fact about streaming however is that if you don't have a gimmick or shtick, you're unlikely to grow past that. That doesn't mean you won't have viewers come and go, but the streams that retain viewers are ones that are unique. Streaming also isn't hugely profitable unless you grow. Most importantly be yourself and don't play a persona unless you want it to be part of your gimmick.

  • First thing to learn about Twitch streaming;

    It is VERY difficult and often it takes a very long time to build up an audience or fan base. Many give up within a short period because they think these things happen overnight. Keep your streams simple, entertaining and with a regular schedule. Viewers love structure.

    Patience is key. Stick with it and you may reap the rewards in future.
