Guild Revamp!

  • Currently, Guilds are a great foundational feature building upon captaincy. but it's stayed that way for years, with no meaningful updates.

    there are two things that would make guilds become the shared long-term progression it was always meant to be.

    Guild Uniforms and Titles
    The Guild owner can now create special outfits and titles for guild members, with certain titles and in-guild promotions linked to certain outfits. PVP faction cosmetics are not available for shared uniforms. The titles are made off of a block-based title builder, with 5 blocks maximum.

    some different title blocks:

    • Director, Commodore, Rogue, Legend, Captain, Warfare, Of, Explosive, Resource, The, (add S to prior block), Stealth, Operative, Guerilla, Weaponry, Fortune, Banker

    (You get the idea)

    Second off, Hideouts.

    A Pirate hideout is a feature that has been much requested across the years, and I believe the sea of the damned is the perfect canon place for every guild's hideout. you can access the hideout through voting on the captain's table and opening up the nearest tunnel of the damned/ POTC portal.

    Where memories become reality, your guild's achievements echo into the decor of the facilities.
    For MASSIVE gold sums your guild can collectively build up with a variety of features to turn the place into a great hideout. some upgrades will need to be made before others are unlocked, with some even having multiple stages.

    In my version of the hideout, to the southeast is the dock and garrison, with a nice beach to the south and southwest, a forest to the west and northwest, and training ground to the north. the center of the island to the northeast is a mountain range with underground passages for faster travel.

    However, this is just a rough draft and a modular island editor with interchangeable swappable areas would be much better, as certain areas could be unlocked through completing commendations, although some areas like the dock and guild main hideout building are required.

    **Shipwright + Dock (first upgrade for everyone) **
    * Stonework Upgrade
    * Shipyard with ship switcher
    * Lighthouse

    Guild Garrison
    * Garrison Tavern Expansion and Nameable Tavern Sign
    * Guild Garrison Personal Pirate Quarters
    * Guild Garrison zipline transportation system to dock and beach
    * Guild Garrison Treasury/Guild Museum
    * Fireplace in tavern
    * War Room
    * Phantom Band
    * Guild Archive
    * Garrison Observatory (ancient wheel and capstan that change weather and time of day when turned)

    Beach*
    * Fishing Dock
    * Garrison Tavern Expansion- Beachside bar
    * Fireworks Cannon
    * Sandcastles
    * Waterslide with ramp
    * Hot Tub

    Mountain

    • Choose a Spanish Monastery or Ancient Temple, or reaper ritual site to be atop this mountain
    • Mineshaft for quick travel from garrison to beach to woods to training grounds

    Woods

    • Hunting Lodge
    • Watering hole

    Training grounds

    • TDM Arena made out of shipwrecks of various ships
      • Firing range
    • Trap + Parkour Gauntlet

    That's the main concept, just further structuring and tangible long-term progression to make your guild feel like a full faction.

    So, I load into the game, and instead of getting supplies, inviting friends, and seeing what's on the server or what we can do to earn achievements, cosmetics, or cause shananigans, I load into the guild area and....?

  • @Europa4033 You wake up in your quarters, friends awaiting you in guild tavern. Summon forth your vessel of choice from the shipyard, supply up from the many barrels and guild merchant, and set sail for the sea of thieves!

    Note you can raise emissaries at hideout, but if a ship leaves the sea of thieves to go to the hideout in its flag and treasure are left on the server it was on prior.

    So, my guild and I have our own discord. If we have enough on for a galleon, we'll each load on our servers, and compare each to see which one is the most enticing. That person then sends out the invites, and off we go. If we all loaded in a single instance, how do we compare servers? It just seems like you're suggesting they spend money, time, and resources to create content for something to do outside of the main game, and the "content" is to stand around waiting to sail instead of simply loading in, collect resources, invite your crewmembers, raise a flag, and go, which is how the current game is already set for.

    P.S. Also, if my friends were waiting for me in the guild tavern, why haven't they gotten the ship ready yet, sailed off and simply invited me to their ship?

  • What happens to all that gold I spend on a guild to help improve it, decorate it and I’m later kicked out for “inactive status due to real world stuff. Do I get my gold back? Do I keep the decorate items I purchased?

  • @europa4033
    Assuming you have enough people for a galleon (4)
    And want to implement your strategy of probing servers, each person could just take their own galleon onto a servers to find the best one, and then the others join the best server.

    @BurnBacon I imagine that the amount of gold a person contributes to their guild is logged internally and given back to them if they leave the guild. Their hideout de-upgrades accordingly

    ...which is what we currently do, without the developers having to spend any time, money, or resources for a private server (which you can't sail back and forth between for starters) just for our guild.
