Naval battles being interrupted.

  • Since the update (where they said they would reduce the likelihood of naval battles being interrupted to about half what they used to be), every single naval battle I've had (I haven't counted but I would estimate 15 - 20? (not a huge amount I know, but enough to put a question mark over the statistics)), has been interrupted by a meg or skelly ship.

This is not a complaint about interruptions or things being unfair - sometimes things have gone against me, sometimes they've been in my favour - this is just commenting on the fact that my experience has been the opposite of what was promised.

I can see three possibilities for what could be happening here:

    1. I misunderstood the video (or it was poorly explained), and they are actually (intentionally) increasing the likelihood of interruptions. Or when they said they would decrease it they were describing a future update that hasn't actually been brought in yet.

    2. There was some bug/ mistake in the development and interruptions have been mistakenly increased rather than decreased (or possibly increased for some players and decreased for others).

    3. I am a wild statistical anomaly and interruptions have been decreased across the board and this is just my experience and everyone else has experienced a decrease as expected.

Interested to know which of these has happened. If it's 1, I'd appreciate someone clarifying for me. If 2, should I be raising a support ticket? Difficult to know if it's 3 without hearing other people's experiences. i.e. since the update, what percentage of your naval battles would you estimate have been interrupted by a meg, skelly ship or kraken? Is this more or less than before the update?

Again, not here to complain or discuss the pros and cons of interruptions or what we'd like to happen with the game. I just want to manage my expectations and feed back to rare if there has been a bug or miscommunication.

  • To be honest, I don't want to change this. Alternatively, this change could only include hourglass PVP, where chasing on the ocean could potentially encounter various risks, while the resources and number of vessel types on both sides are also unequal. The Sea of Thieves is not a fair competition game at all. It could be you robbing someone, or someone robbing you. The emergence of other third parties (whether players or NPCs) is a great thing.

  • Are you playing hourglass or are you just fighting people on the seas? I think they only reduced the likelihood for hourglass

  • Glad you seem to be encountering these "Annoyances" of skeleton ships/Megs spawning on you during events.

I havnt had a single thing, and Im getting quiet frankly bored of the empty areas where nothing happens, even when I go to open water sailing between 4 squares, waiting for on to spawn.

I need to increase my Meg and Skeleton ship kills.
