A Tattoo set that progressively shows all curses you have achieved

  • Cursekeeper’s Ink Tattoo Set - Concept

    Concept:
A progressive tattoo set that visually tracks a player’s earned curses. The tattoo updates automatically as new curses are unlocked.

    Functionality:
When a player obtains their first eligible curse, they automatically receive the Cursekeeper’s Ink tattoo set.
The base version includes the initial mark representing that specific curse.
Each time the player unlocks an additional eligible curse (Emporium and golden hourglass versions do not count), a new mark is added to the tattoo set.
Each mark corresponds to a specific curse.
Tattoos update dynamically, no manual equip/unequip needed.
The tattoo set scales in complexity based on the total number of curses a player has earned.
Players with multiple curses will display all associated marks simultaneously.
This concept not only shows what a player has achieved, but also encourages players to get all curses.

  • It's a cool idea but I don't know if the game would support something like this based on how the cosmetic system currently works. It would also lead to additional data being loaded whenever you encountered a player wearing this tattoo since there could be several variations on what needs to be loaded on the viewing player's end.

They could get around that by making a different 'cosmetic' for each variation but every time a curse gets added they would need to create a new set and modify the existing sets of tattoos to have all of the possible different combinations including the new curse.

  • @d3adst1ck Yeah that's true. It would require a lot of work to be put into it. Your idea around it would be really cool though, but i'm guessing it's too much work.

If not i'm sure it would be the most popular tattoo set on the Seas, and would really encourage players to try get them! :D

  • @d3adst1ck There used to be 7 different versions of the gold curse. Having variants isn't an issue, it would just choose a variant based on checkboxes being ticked or not.

The gold curse used some kind of random generation, I don't think it had variants. If it did, then it was seven individual assets which is similar to how the system works right now. If you have a tattoo as suggested with specific pieces that get turned on/off, you'd need to send each curse on/off status to other players so they can load the tattoo.

The variant method would require many more asset combinations. For 2 curses, you need 3 tattoos: A, B, and AB. For 3 curses, you need an additional 4 combos: C, AC, BC, ABC. That's already the same amount as the total original gold curse if it used variants instead of random generation.

We have 11 (I think?) non-emporium curses right now. I don't think they are going to make that many variants for a single tattoo.

  • @d3adst1ck Look at each of the gold hoarders at every tent. The gold curses were the same variants that each of them have, and one of the 7 was randomly applied to you when you got the curse.

  • @potatosord source for lore? Genuinely curious as I had always heard is was a random generation and it was changed to what it is now due to some people getting a “very small” amount of gold on their body vs some that were more covered.

  • @d3adst1ck 8 curses minus gold variant pvp, stone curses, and lightning curse, but still enough that your point is still valid

This reminds me of (dating myself here) the Tie Fighter game from the 90's.
A part of the game was earning the secret order tattoo, which would get an addition with each rank earned.
    Cool idea.

  • @senapher That is a very good idea, like a living diary of individual deeds, inked on skin.

Hopefully the devs will consider this!
