Season 16 and 17 commendations are endless, unorganic, unfair and hellbent to crush you. But I conquered them all.

  • Finally, I’m done. It was repetitive, boring, exhausting, incredibly long, and unfair, but I made it.

As the title of the thread says, the commendations from Seasons 16 and 17 were absolute hell, and we all know why:

    • meaningless values when it comes to delivering caskets and urns, for which I had to repeat the same mission 270 times without losing to anyone. And I lost to someone. Oh, and you forgot to add the casket of verdant bones in the first weeks. Adding insult to injury.

    • pristine meg teeth and scales not dropping correctly. out of 10 megalodons you might get a single piece. And why a meg should drop boar fangs? I had to resort to the boar wallows to find them, but only in Safer Seas, otherwise I’d just find empty wallows.

Rare, you have to admit that the creation, management, and requirements of these commendations were bad game design manual material, and I hope the promise to listen to the community, especially insiders, will be kept.

As a completionist, I felt morally obliged to reach these goals and bring the game back to 100% completion. But I didn’t enjoy it one bit. And this is the biggest failure in a videogame.

Listen to the players. We want to play this game, not to live for it.

  • I like completing the commendations too, but these commendations don't exist to me. I'm not going to actively pursue any of them. I can only hope that low participation/completion rates raises some analytical flag up at Rare HQ for them to look at and re-evaluate how ridiculous they are getting.

  • In short. They are a grind and nobody likes them. Except for the ones who do.

  • Looks at Burning Blade Grade 8 completions still to do 😢 Totally get this...

I do see why they changed this seasons to only require 1 though.

(PS if anyone's doing any of them Burning Blade hand ins hit me up!)

  • @d3adst1ck ha detto in Season 16 and 17 commendations are endless, unorganic, unfair and hellbent to crush you. But I conquered them all.:

I wanted to do the same, but I don’t trust Rare :(

  • The fact that they already said they are NOT going to rebalance the commendation for the chests because it would diminish the achievement of the people who did exploits to get 180 voyages done in the first week, which they then "rebalanced" to make you have to do 270 instead of 180 and then made you have more possible places the chests can spawn to try to ruin the exploit. They made it 50% worse and considerably harder to get the comms done now. I have not touched reaper voyages, despite that I was really excited for them, because those numbers are beyond insane. I already have no intention to do 100 LotV and that is much less time consuming. The loot table for megs, including ancient megs, is so screwed up that there is no reason to do it unless you really really really like shark curse, or are a completionist. Or you hate yourself.

  • @musicmee I need to do 80 BB rituals for obby bones, and I dread it. I got to 210 because the bones were cool, and I'm on my way to gold bones (358 serv) but the grind to do 80 BBs is keeping me away from it for now. This game has some of the worst grinds in all of gaming, maybe the absolute worst. Sail 1000 miles 10 times, 80 BB, 100 LotV, 270 reaper voyages, 50 champion streaks (twice), sink 500 people representing the other side (twice), get to level 100 and then sell 100 enemy emissary flags (twice), the list goes on. I know I'm barely touching on some of the worst grinds too. 300 megs... so many fish...
