Update Day

  • Hello everyone!

First of all, thank you for this amazing game, that I wish I had found so much sooner than I did. Now, the reason for this post. While I am sure there is a good reason why you do updates the days you do them, I beg of you.. please stop doing them so late in the week. I've noticed this as a pattern since the Burning Blade launched.. updates happen late in the week and then the game spends an entire weekend in a less than ideal state.

Please, please consider moving update to a Monday or even Tuesday so that there is time to fix issues that pop up. Normally I don't really complain. I just silently deal with it and try and find enjoyment anyhow.. but this season has been bad update after bad update.. consistent marblebeards, can't hourglass without getting outposted, barrels not floating up (if you experience this, shoot out of a cannon and merm back), fps drops (which are still happening, but to a lesser extent), while ping spikes while playing on non-native servers with friends, people still parking their boats in unsinkable spots in HG.. I appreciate that the team has been working to bring us stability and game improvements. I appreciate that you're never going to be able to please everyone no matter how hard you try, but please consider changing update day to earlier in the week.

    Why?
What makes update day any different?

updates happen late in the week and then the game spends an entire weekend in a less than ideal state.

and? If it happens on Monday, now "game spends entire Week in a less than ideal state" what the difference? Both just have same results.

Because most Rare devs don't work weekends, unless there's an absolute need to, it means at least two days delay (or three days on a UK Bank Holiday) before anything is done. So it makes no sense to treat every day as equal in this scenario.

I agree with the OP and would rather see them delay updates by three working days until the following Tuesday (like it used to be). This would give them two extra days breathing room to deal with any major issues, before the bulk of players get on at the weekend. By delaying it those extra few days, it would also give them a little more QA time to polish.

Despite their best efforts, updates lately have just felt very rushed and untested, and maybe that is down to unrealistic time management. We're the majority of a decade into a live service, it shouldn't feel like an early access title.

Like RealStyli said, if they did the updates earlier in the weekend when the devs are working, they'd be able to deal with issues that pop up instead of it going through the weekend with all the bugs and issues that happen. As it is now, to the best of my knowledge, updates happen Thursday morning, giving them half of Thursday and all of Friday to deal with things, with only a skeleton crew working over the weekend, before the regular crew returns on Monday to continue fixing things. Meanwhile, during the weekend when a lot of people have off of work and school, the game sits in a bad state. I'd rather they push the update back a few days til Monday or Tuesday, and then have all week to work on fixes for things before busy times on the weekend.
