Character Creation is a disaster

  • I think everyone knows that, still no change at all. At least let us select male or female before generation pirates. Game is forcing many players to play with a pirate what they dont like at all, they just dont wanna spend 20+ hours rerolling to a decent one. And this issue is even worse for new players, they would rather not play the game.

Lol, as long as RARE have got the player count tick to add to their 50 million playerbase they don't care.

7 years and the IPG has not been twnkered with, I don't see why it would be a priority, especially when the game has been on a decline of players the past year.

  • By no means a disaster. It could use a little improvement like seeing your characters clothing/hair etc. while re-rolling but in the long haul, your pirate’s gender and appearance don’t matter. Give your lil in game you some love whoever you land on.

  • Another Rare classic! Ipg like most of SoT features is a great idea, very poorly executed. As you and many others have said over the years, you can keep the randomness intact, while also adding a few basic options like gender, skin color and body type (maybe age too). There is no reason to have to go through male pirate models if you want a female one and vice versa, and it just makes the process of choosing a pirate tedious. This paired with the fact that the angles ipg uses results in people not being satisfied with their choice and being less engaged with their pirate and with the game in general. I doubt adding a few sliders would be such a difficult task but why bother when you can charge people to change the appearance of their pirate and have them spend even more time in your game (even if they are not actually playing)? Anyway this month in the emporium...

  • How is it a disaster?
Because you can’t just make a goofy character, and play the game already?

  • Its fine but could do with a little bit of improvement here and there, narrowing results to the gender you want maybe and giving a more focused look at pirate to see exactly what you are getting cause you can't see that well with all the random poses but other than that i see no problems.

  • Like 5-10 minutes and I got what I wanted. Two different times. Don't see a problem?
It's not hard. Save the ones you like and cycle them out when you get closer.

They're supposed to be wonky looking...

  • @th3-tater Exactly, sea of thieves not sea of fashion xD

  • @uga3883 Usually the players spend more time fine tuning their character in rpgs with more choices. Pre-made characters have the perk of "what you see is what you got" process.

  • Or just deal with it (not meaning to sound rude)

  • @uga3883 male or female at the very least would be nice :)

  • Character creation works as intended. Just because it doesn't cater to your specific demands doesn't mean it's a disaster. 🤣

  • @tesiccl U are not completely right, some animations like hands while running are different on male/female pirates, also how it looks holding a weapon (especially pistol) is nicer on skinny/a bit muscular than fat ones. Complete customization would ruin it but at least few filters like: Gender, weight (skinny, fit, muscular, fat), age (young, middle aged, old) would be really cool.

  • @yenghua
Respectfully it is Sea of Fashion....

But you can get either a Super Model or an absolute Goblin if you play right.

I have been told my current looks like the younger version of the Grandma from Moana...I wasn't even trying lol

  • I have no idea what are you tripping about.
You can reroll pirates for as long as you want upon creation - unless they changed it?
I was looking for very specific combination of traits (1st and only appearance potion after I got tired of chonk meme pirate), and by very specific combination of traits, I really do mean it.
I got it in less than 5 minutes.
Exact sex, skin colour, body type, lip, nose and eye shapes, specifically left eye being 'dead' + scar coming through it.

  • @gosva5434 totally agree

  • @adara-haze lucky
