Add a closing circle after a certain time to avoid people from running away the whole time
Hourglas
@hegemon3 Not for hour+ tho like griefers do, they would run 10min and then sink. Good deal if you ask me.
@Ironfire777 Or at least make running 24/7 on purpose (not going for reset, literally running from start) bannable so people that do this for 1h or something just to annoy others get temporary 2 weeks ban or something. Or even better restrictions from hourglass.
A lot of the runners are doing it to get you to follow them to the edge of the circle (edge runners), so they can board you and sail you out of bounds. A shrinking circle won't change that, it will just make the tactic more viable.
As mentioned by SweetSandMan above, a time limit and a point system that rewards participation would be far better. Obviously, it would need a lot more brainstorming to work out the details.

Others have already pointed out how a closing circle would make sailing your opponent out of bounds more viable. The tactic is perfectly legal, but generally it seems like most people aren’t a fan of losing this way. I think that creating an environment where sailing your opponent out of bounds becomes more efficient would be fairly unpopular, but I could be wrong.
This request isn’t uncommon, but one downside to a closing circle I don’t see others mentioning is being third partied when the circle is small, thus lessoning your ability to avoid the third party. Imagine if the circle was as small as it gets and another ship is approaching, you wouldn’t even be able to dodge in any capacity.
How would a closing circle work with a 3rd party?
- Do they become part of the battle when sailing into it? If so, what about people who don't want to 3rd party, but have a treasure map/wanted skeleton on a nearby island?
Would they then be screwed & have to wait for the fight to end? Not fair to them. - If they can just sit outside the circle & fire, then the circle becomes useless. Or, at least, a 3rd party has more power.
What about Hourglass fights with islands around?
- A shrinking circle might force players towards an island or large rock. Or a player may get caught outside the circle due to an island or large rock.

I think the Circle should only start to close after for example 30min or more because I fought a guy for 2:30 h because he capt running around an big Island. And you could solve the problem with a third party by restoring the circle to its original size when the third ship enters
