Idea: Reaper quest when turning in Emissary flag

  • We all know how annoying it can be to level up reapers, since most loot only gives a sliver of reputation. Many people have asked for Reaper voyages, which, while the ideas themselves are often good, would go against what the faction is meant for.

    My idea is that you can get an optional quest when handing in Emissary Flags. Depending on what grade, the loot would vary in value. This way, Reapers could make a good profit while still doing PvP.

    Now, you could argue that Reapers Chests are already like that, but often times the chests are on the other side of the map and there is little reason to go for them.

    Anyway, what do you think of this? Feedback is appreciated.

  • @gameglarb Shouldn't reapers' profit come from pvp? This is their thing or they would be just like merchants.

  • @musestricken17 Yes, but the problem is that it can be really hard to actually find pvp as a reaper. As soon as that reaper hits G5, most people are gonna server hop away or lower emissary. And while yes, the flags do give lots of xp, when you can only really get 1 or 2 per session its kind of hard to level up. I think that a bonus when you actually manage to get an enemy flag would be good.

  • @gameglarb And why do you think most people lower their flags when there is a reaper-5 with their OP ability to spot all emissaries? People on voyages with emissaries have to leave their ship to complete those voyages, if they can be spotted by a reaper on the map, it severely limits their ability to do their voyages, so ofcourse they will leave that server.

  • @super87ghost ah yes, because it is “OP” that when you raise an emissary that allows people to see you on the map no matter what grade you are, you get to see people that have raised emissary when you are grade 5.

    I never said reaper is toxic, only that their grade-5 ability is overpowered. And that is already proved by the fact that all other emmisaries leave when you get a reaper-5. Because if it wasn't overpowered, other emmisaries would still choose to continue their emmy. But since they don't, they clearly show for almost all that the risk/reward structure isn't worth it and the risk has just become way to big. The players choices already show it is OP.

    And comparing the reaper emmy being seen on the map and their ability to see all others on the map is a false one, for three main reasons:

    1. Reapers WANT to be seen (from the point of that emmy), since their whole point is to fight others.
    2. Reapers don't have to leave their ship to do their stuff, while other emissaries do. Reapers therefore can always have their defenses fully up, while the rest cannot.
    3. Reapers choose to be seen, other emmisaries don't. For the other emmisaries it's the reaper who decides if they are seen, not themselves.
  • @super87ghost Thats fair, but if reapers couldn’t see emissaries on the map at all they would be incredibly underpowered. Also, emissaries server hopping away isn’t really the topic of this post.

  • The whole loot in the server is of the reapers like literally. Reapers can sell all kinds of loot to their emi.

  • @musestricken17 Yeah but normal loot sells for barely any rep. Even selling, like, an entire veil barely gives a level.
