New vessels you must go and commandeer/clear without sinking and bring to port to captain

  • Say you stole that Skele Galleon. Looted it too. You repaired and cleared crew. Bucketed water out, and went to anchor it at port. Should we add a "disassemble" and sell option to give rise to capturing and seizing ships as the added loot. If not then understandable. Sink and loot as you were. But imagine getting some legendary commendation for stealing everything. "Even the floorboards" or something where it's 'boarded, sailed, and sold a ship gained under another crews captain' where it'd just count for the sold ship to be scuttled closest to players who'd lost it in pvp. And vanquished as the pve side. Captaining gives you the cosmetics unlocked to purchase for dubloons or ancient coins if you don't want to capture a phantom/skeleton ship. With the faction cosmetics coming out I'd love seeing a Reapers or pirate Legend ship set solely like how the Skele curse has Variants. Higher captained renown gives more variety, higher ship status, such as legendary, gives you this legendary ship Title.

  • Always wanted to sail on both of the skeleton ship types! :D

But, I do see two potential problems here, one bigger than the other:

    1. Smaller one - they'd have to rebalance skeleton ships. Skeletons of any type are easy to kill. Clearing even their galley would be super fast by boarding. They'd have to either make them super strong, or spawn at least 2-3x bigger number of them per ship. But I really can't say, if that would still be in a complete balance.

    2. Bigger one - players. It would literally either be a nod to spawn camping, or they would have to completely rework respawn/PvP system. Since you're supposed to keep respawning on your ship every time you die until it sinks. So I have no idea, what condition they'll need to create so you can take someone else's ship under your command (which would be a duplicate of their original ship) + they get their ship back in the same session. Honestly, this kinda seems impossible, at least with the current gameplay system at hand :/

All in all, I love the concept! I mean, I'm still playing Atlas, and ship stealing (unless npc ship) is a thing, and you can take it over to be completely yours after the set amount of time. For now, at least the skeleton ship part might be something worth exploring more, and I'd love to hear some more ideas about this!
