Merchant Guilds not Work?

  • @robby0316 so think of it like this, you run your usual emmi flag with merchants, you’ll get the bonus/emmi value for that faction. If you choose to run the sovereign flag, you’ll get emmi value/bonus gold for your guild and it’ll count towards progress within the guild “faction” then.

  • @robby0316

    That’s not how guilds work!

    Watch this video

As far as I can tell, guilds are no different than sailing on a captain ship. By sailing with a guild you simply get another form of progression and milestones to work towards.

The sovereign emissary flag I assume is just like the reaper flag where it has a multiplier for all loot sold. The problem is that once the captain leaves you can’t sell to the sovereigns. I’m curious how that will work. As far as I can tell, all guild pledged ships are captained. I assume that the first player to take it out is named captain. So if you are in the guild and the second player to join the ship and the first person leaves then I assume the ship is no longer captained.

  • Can't say much as an insider, I will use one word: It's wonky.

  • @foambreaker

Join insiders and find out for yourself. Insiders can always use people who can follow the NDA

  • @coffeelight5545 I am in insiders, but the website is $#@%^@ up right now.

  • @tesiccl So then it's not a guild flag at all, it's a sovereign emissary flag!

  • @crowedhunter sorta! I think the sovereigns are the ones offering the guild emissaries considering Ramsey wanted a way to tie the factions together and Sovereigns do that already when we were selling items to them, so it makes natural sense we would raise it with them. Guess it’s just another emmi value to get on top of the other 5 per month, can’t complain at that.

  • @tesiccl Down with the monarchy.

  • @crowedhunter long live piracy! 🏴‍☠️

  • @tesiccl @CoffeeLight5545 I get that 100% but the issue stems from cargo runs being required to be sold to a specific NPC and are not able to be sold at the sovereign tent.

In the guild video, in order to raise emissary for your guild you need to sell your loot at the sovereign tent. Which is fine for gold hoarders or OOS because they were already selling there before.

However, someone in a Merchant Guild, wanting to run merchant alliance, and also raise the Guilds emissary value, are unable to sell cargo at the sovereign tent.

A gold hoarder can do a vault and sell to the sovereign.

An OOS representative can do a phantom fleet and sell at the sovereign tent.

A PvE unaligned player can do a phantom fort and get treasure for merchant(not cargo), OOS(skulls), and Gold hoarder (chests and misc trinkets).

A merchant, wanting to raise GUILD emissary is unable to do commodity crates because they are locked behind needing a merchant emissary flag up. A merchant wanting to do cargo runs are unable to sell any cargo directly to the sovereigns since they have specific NPC delivery requirements. The only way a merchant can sell loot to the sovereigns is by doing a sunken treasure voyage.

Which to me is a huge disadvantage to the sandbox for merchants because every other main faction gets loot from every GH voyage, and every OOS voyage that can be sold to the sovereign.

Unless you can raise two emissary flags, or get GUILD emissary selling merchant cargo runs to the required delivery NPC. Merchants are at a huge disadvantage within the 3 main factions.

  • @robby0316

Regrettably the merchant alliance may be difficult because they have a specific address. Unfortunately it can’t be helped. On the plus side, you have the Merchant Alliance shipwreck voyages

  • Guys are thinking way too deep into this….cant be happy with what you are getting.

You only need to have the MA emissary flag in your mast when you purchase the commodity crates ...

You're right about the cargo runs, but AFAIK you can also sell commodity crates at the sovereigns.

The kegs, canonball, fruit and wood crates can also be turned in at the Sovereigns.

Plus the loot you can sell at all: gemstones, treasure chests and tridents.

Which to me is a huge disadvantage to the sandbox for merchants because every other main faction gets loot from every GH voyage, and every OOS voyage that can be sold to the sovereign.

Did you forget about the animal quests ? Not very popular i know, around the same popularity as the cargo runs I think, but I think they can be turned in at the Sovereigns as well.

So, in conclusion only one type of MA items cannot be turned in at the sovereigns; not a huge disadvantage IMO.

  • @lem0n-curry commodity crates can only be bought if you have the merchant emissary flag up. Cargo runs can not be delivered at sovereign tent. That’s 2/3.

Lowering a reraising both guild flag and merchant flag for commodity crates is illogical and a terrible option for a work around.

  • @burnbacon I’m sure you’ll find something to complain about in the PvE servers you’ll probably live on

Yes buy them when you have the MA emissary up - you can sell them without having that flag up ... as could be inferred in my earlier post.

When I grinded those, I first bought them at all outposts (without emissary flag on top between outposts) and after having a sloopload of commodities on board, I put up an emissary flag, made the rounds again and sold them all.

Cargo runs can not be delivered at sovereign tent.

    Aye.
I think that if the delivery is at the MA NPC it should be able to be done via the Sovereigns, but note that if the delivery goes to a Seapost or NPC on a large island you also won't be able to turn in at the sovereigns...

    That’s 2/3.

Animal runs, selling commodities, Lost Voyage, random MA quests for crates and kegs. Only one quest type cannot be turned in at Sovereigns.

  • @lem0n-curry I’m clocking out of this conversation as it’s sadly going as well as what I’ve expected of the internet. Enjoy your night.

  • Dropping anchor as OP appears to have deleted their post.
