Firebombs and Blunderbombs are great to use, but could we also get bottles that can blind, poison, or slow the player? Or potions able to grant healing or speed with cutlass or running?
Will throwable and drinkable potions be a thing?
@impymidna2303 for healing:
- food and overheal
- dmg over time firebomb
- speed with cutlass = sword dash.
I get the idea but it dubles things allready in game.
SPOILER ALERT ?
It's certainly in the milieu of the game, there has been a lot of speculation around potion brewing and cooking since the release of first Monkey Island tall tale.
The challenge is the honest answer to your question is, maybe? No one (here) really knows what's in ideation for S11-13. Potions are not going to be a thing in S10, and it's too early for insiders to know if they're going to be a thing later.
But honestly, @Ghutar is technically correct. What will healing potions do other than be a reskin of food and brewing just replacing cooking meat? Sure maybe some vegetarian pirates might appreciate brewing a potion over cooking a pork chop, but otherwise healing potions don't add anything that the game doesn't already have.
There have been many idea as well about turning cursed cannonballs into throwables: they work just like cannonballs in the cannons, and now I have a poison potion, a jig potion, a sleep potion, etc... It would be fun and interesting IMO, but the challenge is giving pirates the ability to craft these as opposed to finding them throws off the balance of combat in the game. Rare (recently?) nerfed the drop rate of cursed cannonballs because hourglassers were complaining about "he who has the most cursed balls wins the match."
@lordqulex I still love idea to being able to throw cursed cannonballs on a half or maybe 3/4 of normal throwables range and with 0 ship damage apllaing AoE of curse and maybe some resonable dmg if you hit another pirate with it.
@lordqulex I have had a fair share of very cheeky wins in HG from using a grogball, jigball, or wearyball at the right moment. One time I had a sail, ballast, and a grog-ball on me at once. It was disgusting. They didn't have a mic, but I'll bet they were very unhappy with being tied down so thoroughly.
@burnbacon said in Will throwable and drinkable potions be a thing?:
Big question tho. Why?
Does the game really need something to annoy players? Everyone already complains about blunderbombs being thrown at you and your ship, so why potions?
We already have curse balls. Why not allow us to throw those?
Could have said the exact same thing about chainshots when we already had anchor balls and people dropping the anchor during boarding..
Could have said the exact same thing about phantoms and ocean crawlers when we already had skeletons
Could say this about a number of things in this game
My big question is why are you so skeptical and pessimistic about nearly every post discussing new features in these forums?
@impymidna2303 I feel like the Hunter's call could easily make a concoction out of kraken ink that pirates have re purposed to blind other each other.
I also think poison is a greatly under-used mechanic, maybe we could dip our blades in poison for lasting damage lol
