Is an in in game Anti cheat instant ban feature possible?

  • I keep seeing posts about people cheating and hacking the Sea of Thieves. I keep hearing about gunpowder barrel teleportation and aim bot. Is there a way for Rare to place a monitoring system that can detect unauthorized gameplay?

I know that players are supposed to report players who have been cheating. But it would be cool if there was a monitoring system that could insta ban players, even if it’s a temporary ban until Rare can examine the gameplay sessions and determine if a Redbeard is possible.

Many players have made valid points about hackers about making a new account in minutes while doing it for almost no money. I feel a monitoring system could help keep gameplay fair if it’s possible. I know Rare will most likely lock this thread. I’m hoping my idea is something that Rare can program into the game

  • Probably not. Anticheat is usually a delayed ban in order to catch as many as possible.

  • wouldn't change much in this game

habitual alt cheating gets banned pretty quickly because of a small community mixed with a lot of streaming/recording

and the ones that aren't caught yet aren't caught yet

the effectiveness can go down when people get to the " I don't report them anymore because it doesn't matter" thing but the game is pretty report heavy, especially in content creation circles so someone still is likely to get a report in pretty quickly.

  • Watch the recent podcast from Rare on the matter.

  • If you believe a player has been toxic in the game or suspect foul-play, you can report them to Xbox Live here. You can also submit a support ticket via Rare Player Support. This is a matter for Support and not the Forums. That all being said, I'll go ahead and drop anchor here. Thank you.
