We should be able to sell Veil Stones to the Reapers

  • I just don't get this, aren't Reapers literally hunting for those? why shouldn't Reapers be able to sell the Veil Stones to the Reaper's Hideout?

  • I particularly loved this idea, especially if it influenced the game's story making flameheart win this war.

  • 🤨🧐🤔🤔

  • I was going to do a post on this but I guess I'll add it here as it's so similar to my core point...

The Veil Stones should be either:

    (1) persistent and sellable (don't vanish with the voyage)
    or
    (2) locked to the crew doing the voyage

At the moment there's a halfway point where they can be stolen but they have no positive value to the thief, and stealing them only serves to create negativity and toxicity amongst the crew who can't complete the voyage as a result.

If something can be stolen, it should have value, or else stealing it just breeds resentment and bad sportsmanship. Yes, you could say that about the current Tall Tales, but 1) you don't get many folks hunting Tall Tale players due to the low yield and 2) there are a few Tall Tale items that can be sold (Gold Hoarder's Skull and collector chests).

I say this as someone who leans towards PvE but accepts the balance of PvPvE. Having a Veil Stone stolen by a crew when they have nothing to gain from it is far more salt-inducing than having them steal something they can actually sell. Sure, it would be bad either way, but as it is it just seems petty to steal them and prevent the completion of the voyage. It comes across as toxicity if the thieves know they can't sell it but still steal it regardless to prevent progress.

It's either that or Rare sticks with them not being able to be sold and they lock them to the crew doing it somehow. Make it so they don't appear unless picked up and then they get added to the quest radial.

Pick one. As it is, it's not good for anyone to have them as they are.

  • This is the most toxic thing I’ve experienced so far in SoT.

Doing the final stone,I’m a solo player.

Basically Gally shows up literally as I take down the last tower. Griefs me, takes the stone and vanishes into the night.

This was my first time getting that far in the adventure. Was there a bunch of gold and treasures with the stone? I couldn’t care less about the gold I just wanted to complete my Athena adventure.

I just came back, hoping this stuff had stopped, but I guess until the game dies and servers are empty I’m out.

Maybe it is balance since players who are losing a fight will just vote down the voyage. This doesn't make the tornado event despawn just there will be no loot in the end.

Players who want to steal this have to wait until the very end to make sure loot will be there. That includes the veil stone unfortunately.

  • @dank-jimb0 I was unaware I could have despawned the event. Nice. Thanks.

To be clear, if they could steal it and get rewarded for it I would be here whining.

I just don’t see the point in sailing all the way over just to be jerks and get nothing out of it. I didn’t even have emissary up (forgot) and all of the loot from the precious stones was turned in.

Thanks for the bit about voting down the voyage.

I personally don't like either parts of it.

It should be a combination of FOTD and tall tale. Except, you can vote down the FOTD to troll / grief when they are losing and people can steal your tall tale item. The worst of both worlds.

I see them moving towards eventually removing how voting down = removal of the event. People already abuse it to make sure nobody can complete it when they cannot defend themselves. There is also people who get to grade 5 and then activate it, but cancel the voyage. The event stays up but it is bugged. This is why crews that want this will wait until it is completed and then come sweeping in, or do a tuck play. This might leave the original crew without the veil stone thus ruining their voyage too.

    Rare needs to fix it.

    1. Make it so that once the tornado goes up that it functions regardless of the original crew. It is like FOTD. Someone completes it or it just stays up.

    2. Make the final veil stone a "placed in your inventory" like some tall tale items. If original crew gets sunk they can still complete the voyage.

Otherwise players will continue to just wait until you finish and then steal it OR players will just vote it down to make sure nobody gets the loot.

  • I agree! I've heard a lot of people complaining about the Servant of the Flame's hat and sword in the Athena shop, but the solution was kinda easy: let us sell the Veil Stones to the Servant of the Flame in order to unlock and buy his stuff.
In this way, legendary' Luke store would be more "lore accurate", the Reaper's Bones would have a little bit more content and we players would have another way to play this voyage letting us the possibility to have a Choice outside of the current adventure and some more cosmetics. Talking as a Reaper who wants to see Golden Sand burn, why should players side with the Reapers when we cannot even choose to fight for their cause selling the Stones to Flameheart Jr.?

  • I really like this idea, I have been loving the current dynamic that the current adventure brings and this would just be more of that.

  • yessssssssssss
