Add Twitch Drops to DLC

  • I love this game; But I can’t play it because I really want the Ancestral Set. Because no matter how hard I grind or how $ money I have; It’s still not enough. This is why I’m upset about this. I’m sure other people have had the same complaint. I’m sure they want other sets that were twitch drop exclusive. If you guys could add the twitch drops as DLC then it’d be a win-win for both the community and you guys.

  • This is a game that has attempted to avoid much of the money grabbing that happens so often in the industry and people want it brought here too. Doesn't make sense to me

  • @xx-philostar-xx so you cant play a game because you dont have a single cosmetic set which has no gameplay effect apart from looking a certain way….

  • How I hate those "I'd pay for..."-threads...

  • @schwammlgott i feel you, gotta be honest though, rare has created a micro transaction system/eco where apparently people are very happy to throw money at them for things even Rare has said wont happen due to either exclusivity for regular play or pay 2 win systems

  • I could make an argument that Rare is responsible for the way the OP feels. In fact, if I worked in marketing at Rare, I would be showing the OP's post to my boss as an example of how well I am doing my job.

Just for clarification - this game offers no pay 2 win whatsoever.

  • I'm kind of torn about this - I love giving pirate's choice, and it would support Rare if you could just pay for some of the Twitch-based cosmetics, but on the other hand, Twitch drops help grow the community itself. They both provide an income for Rare, but only 1 of them also provides what essentially amounts to advertising, and advertising isn't just about money; it's also about growing the brand.

  • I'm with OP on this. It isn't money grabbing if they are offering something you can already get for free.

Money grabbing would be the mobile game approach where weekly or monthly challenges set the bar so high that there is no possible way to get everything without investing an insane amount of time, watching ads, buying premium currency, or cheesing the game mechanics.

I find it ridiculous that people who partake in the forums regularly would not support another way for Rare to monetize so that the game they love can be made better, and hide behind arguments that imply this is a slippery slope or some red line they can't cross. If you take issue with this, then idk how you reconcile your feelings of the emporium. You can still choose to watch the drops and get for free, why do you care what others do?

Yes, twitch drops do lead to more viewership, but you can't honestly think that offering cosmetics at some reasonable time later would affect viewership? Let's say a year later, which yes is a long time, but is better than never. Id say that 3 months would be enough honestly. If anything it might encourage rare to make more cosmetics for twitch drops instead of offering some sets over and over again, so there's another reason YOU the naysayers will benefit, if a warm fuzzy feeling inside for showing empathy isn't your thing.

The bigger question is not whether Rare should do this, they absolutely should, but whether they can since some cosmetics including the ancestral stuff was to promote other games. Some sets drop once, others multiple times, which may not be Rare's choice. There may be reasons they have to stay exclusive which would be a shame but is understandable.

Until that is clarified, I'm in full support of advocating for this because i think it is good for the game as offering a way to buy these in game helps inform people of the twitch presence which could lead to higher numbers outside of drop windows, a good marketing and business decision because it allows them to double dip on the same content, and a decision that I think has broader support than most probably want to admit. It's easy to be dismissive and say, "why bother", but the frequency of these threads and others like it asking for a better system is enough evidence I need that this is an issue people care about and want improved, whether via a paid route or not.

Time exclusive to twitch is the right middle ground I think, which by the way, doesn't mean I'm soft on other things. I do support exclusive content earned in game as a reward for people who have stuck with the game. But twitch drops just don't deserve that level of prestige in my opinion.
