I want Xbox Game Bar to load the Microsoft Store version instead of Steam

  • I have Sea of Thieves both on Steam and on Microsoft Store.
My Steam is logged in to another account, my alt. But my main is on Microsoft Store version.
Whenever I try to accept an invite to a Sea of Thieves game through Game Bar, it always tries to boot up the Steam version of the game, but I want it to load the Microsoft Store version. Is there a way to do this?
I already tried Uninstalling the Steam version, accepting an Invite only gives me the Steam "you are about to install Sea of Thieves" screen.
Signing out of Steam causes nothing to happen, Game Bar closes as if to open a game, but no game opens.
I saw an old locked forum topic about this. But it was locked without any solutions.

    Any help/tips/advice?
Is there something I haven't tried yet?

    Regards,
    Laird

I just to have this the other way around, so maybe it'll help you :).

When I just had the steam version installed, it opened the MS store one if I had the Xbox console-companion open. It only opened the Steam one if I had opened SoT already on there.

It may have changed a bit, as now I can join a crew after an invite before I select SoT in Steam, but it may be worth a try.

  • @lem0n-curry Tried it with Console Companion open, still boots up the Steam version.

I remember the good old times when you could still accept invites through Console Companion... Shame it had to be disabled for this new system.

    Thanks for the reply tho!
