PvP combat is no-where near fun enough to ever justifiably be touted as a needed facet of this game.

  • Every PvP encounter is the same and that's it. Break the mast, fire off the dirge of special cannonballs, board, anchor, and then hide below deck with a blunderbuss and spawnkill. That's it, literally it, I'm genuinely serious in that I've never once had an experience other than that. No fantastic dueling of the vessels, no daring swordfights atop the deck. Just the same tried and true tactics from some Youtube video that became meta years ago. Every player that doesn't want separated servers is just worried that they can't prey on smaller vessels or non sweat players, that they'd have to get what they dish out as well. Remove rope ladder access for enemy players, make every outpost a true sanctuary, or separate servers, any one of those things would do more than a world of good to the health of this game on the front of PvP.

  • Ok, that‘s like every other thing in this game:

Every X-Marks-The-Spot map is just a map and you‘ll have to find and dig the treasure.

Every bounty contract is just the same. Killing some skellies for their skull.

And so on. It‘s a sandbox game there are some parameters and conditions but the „content“ is how you and the pirates you meet are using those tools / parameters.

  • @wurzzie

This is a PvEvP game... that justifies the need of both elements to exist in the shared game world. All elements have a sense of repetition in games.

If you don't like the PvP, maybe instead of removing it... suggest things that could improve it. Keep in mind fun is a subjective matter to begin with.

  • Plus it mostly relies in exploits and cheats like FoV cheat and more important...

as an average PvEvP Player caring for good sportmanship and not use any exploits or "meta's" you only fight...

salty PvE only losers who are in no way a challenge.

or sweaty PvP "Elite" who exploits and cheats by heart, entirely convinced their playstyle and meta is right and good sportmanship, when most of their encounters arent a challenge either and are in no way good sportmanship.

Rare devs failed completely regarding PvP and Community building.

    No serverhopping!
Nor PvE only (Alliance Servers) neither PvP only should be a playstyle and catered to.

Cutlass mandatory, simple solution for many glitches/ exploits and imbalancies.

Spawn protection, but not what was poorly tested.
30s were ridiculous, but this was the only atempt on this.
There are other methods that would work.

tractable ladders to make boarding somewhat less often and easy, but a maneuver or canonshot skill.

Many more could have been done to make the Game better, but what they did was to make the game less and less good while they catered to idiot streamers and their wants.

And not about a Pirate Adventure!

Rare want only money now, this was a good project and they failed because they want to please everyone.

PvP in this Game could be great, but it is a mess and its 100% Rares fault.

  • If you remove the ladder then I want a grappling hook.

I assure you that will be worse

    Nothing wrong with server hopping.

How can it be wrong to make sure I got a server with ships on it.

If you want server hopping to end or add a cool down then sure do it but say good bye to the exploit alliance servers that don't have pvp.

I literally stack events on normal servers sinking ships on the most filled server I can find

To say server hopping is a exploit. If I'm exploiting the game to make it harder for myself then I guess I've been doing it wrong.

  • Ahoy maties!

As we have a very active Megathread on this very topic I will be dropping anchor here!
