Shadows and lighting in this game very broken.

  • Heads up: I'm new here, so if this post needs some changes - tell me and I change it (don't just delete it).

Currently when using the max settings, there's some weird over-shadowing (if that's even a word) going in ships (especially when going bellow deck).

Note: my examples are provided only for a sloop, but the same things happens to brigs, galleons, caves, buildings and a bunch of other places.

Just to jump straight to the point, here is what I mean:

    • 1st case: Everything on max settings. As you can see, everything in pitch black.
      (shadows mythical, lighting mythical)

The back lantern practically doesn't even shed any light on the wall next to it, leaving it all insanely dark for no good reason.

    • 2nd case: Everything max, but shadows turned to "cursed".
Straight up we see an insane increase in visibility. The lantern still doesn't work, but now at least there's some semblance of light coming from it to the back wall.

    • 3rd case: Shadows "cursed" and lighting "cursed":
Even more increase in visibility. Again the back lantern is pretty much just an illusion, but now we can clearly see everything in the boat.

Of course all of this comes with absolutely horrible graphics.
Worst thing - there's no middle ground to this. Switching the shadows one tick up to "common" makes it pitch black again.

A few more examples of how broken the shadows/lighting in this game are:

    • Difference in colors/light/shadows while standing inside and outside of a building. This makes absolutely no sense. All of this is on all max settings.
In this picture we can see pretty grayish colors, some shadows, a pretty bland image with a lot of brightness coming at us for some reason.

Take a couple of steps outside. Suddenly all of the colors change, there's tons of new shadows for some reason. It's like stepping outside suddenly spawned a sun for me, which for some reason didn't exist when I was inside that building.

    • Looking into a sloop's captains cabin vs being in it (again all max settings).
When we're outside, we can see everything clearly and fine. There's no needlessly dark spots, I can see the metal casing on the ammo crate, etc.

Take a step in (multiple steps, ok...), suddenly the casing on the ammo box is dark black for no reason. There's brand new shadows everywhere that make everything needlessly dark for no reason, reducing visibility and putting a strain on your eyes. That's major lighting change from just taking like 4-5 paces to one direction. This is not okay.

There's many many many more of these examples and sadly I don't have the time to gather all of them. But this is clearly a major issue that needs to be looked at.
You're either forced to have good graphics and suffer from this constant brightness switching everywhere.
Or you're forced to play with "cursed" settings and suffer from the absolutely atrocious shadow flickering that happens when using cursed.

On the extreme off-chance that this is my PC causing this:
I'm using an R7-5800x CPU, ASUS RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC GPU, with all of the Nvidia settings set to default (I made sure to reset them before taking these screenshots).
