Merchant Alliance Rep Help

  • Hello fellow pirates! I currently sail the Sea of Theives with a crew who doesn’t like to do Merchant Alliance Voyages. And I understand why so boriiiiinnnnngggg. Just wondering a couple things: instead of doing voyag es can I just go raid forts and bring back kegs and gems and such of that nature to sell to the merchant and have it count towards the rep? Also if I do this and have my alliance flag up will it help with experience for that? And if not what’s the easiest way to get rep for merchant alliance? Thanks mate!

Loot you can turn into merchants.

Kegs - Any type of keg, if you have a quest the better.

Crates - Spices, Silks, Ore, and Bonedust. Bonedust is the best rep and you can get it from either Forts or from megs and even krakens. Forts guarantee to have them, regular forts have 1 and FoTD's have 4 I think?? Maybe 2, I steal them so I don't know exactly lol. Megs and krakens are a chance to drop.

Message in a bottle quest that ask for crate of cannonballs, wood, or fruit.

    Gems work also.

You might want to look into doing some solo missions for animals. You want the gold ones which are worth a lot of money and rep, especially if you got a full emissary, but emissary makes you a target, so just be aware and be careful animals will die in one hit, have to figure out a placement for them. Pigs you have to feed a fruit every now and then, snakes will bite you and your other animals.

All in all I would look for LFG posts or ask for help in the discord channel. You'll get players who wouldn't mind doing some merch quests with you.

If you got any other questions ask away, and welcome to the game and good luck out there and happy sailing!!

SIDE NOTE alliances make everything faster but you only get rep for what the other alliance mate turns in and only half, unless you got emissary flag up which increases that amount.

So if they turn in skull, you get Order of souls. If they turn in chest you get Gold hoarders.

So if you work with an alliance doing or turning in merch stuff then yes that will help a lot towards merch rank.

Again any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

  • @sonicsfartv2 if flameheart event is up, put up merchant emissary flag and go for it...you should be rank V after finishing it and collecting all the ghost supply crates and treasure...in my experience the best thing for merchant leveling

What @Schwammlgott said, holy geez I completely forgot about Flameheart. Yeah flameheart is actually the best way, all that loot is considered tier 4 and he drops a TON of it. EDIT He also drops a lot of everything else, skulls and chests. You usually get a high grade in whatever emissary you are flying by the end of the completion if not level 5. Flameheart is really good actually. @Schwammlgott props to where props is due.

Fairly easy to do. Can do it solo if you are relatively knowledgeable about sailing mechanics and positioning, can do it lightning quick in a brig or galleon with a good crew.

Just be aware, any event you do is a big beacon towards anyone who wants to steal it from you. Now this doesn't mean you will get attacked EVERYTIME. Sometimes you will, sometimes you won't. Do it fast enough and it won't even matter. But don't let it get to you if you lose, just try and try again. Part of the fun of failing is realizing that you can always do better next time around :).
