Missed opportunity with Larinna

  • I feel that there was a missed opportunity when replacing Duke, mainly in that he was the only character available at every outpost, which really doesn't make sense. This was the perfect opportunity to replace him with unique individuals at each outpost for the Bilge Rats.

  • She isn't fond of me right now because I keep forgetting that she took over for Duke and I still run all the way inside to the table just about every single time.

  • @partyinsanjuan I think the bilge rats should take over the seaposts and sell black market items there.
I do agree with you though that the bilge rats need more characters, it very unlikely people won't know who the BR npcs are since they literally hang out ar every tavern.

  • They tried to have different people at each Outpost, mainly the Mysterious Stranger but due to story and I guess voice works, the female one was removed.

I guess you could also say, Duke was suppose to be the "Commander" of the BR so why have other people? Suddenly he wanted to take a break due to reasons and the rightful "Commander" came back.

  • I dont think it makes sense she is at every outpost, she can be at whatever they hope to be the hub and then replace her with different people like they have done for everyone else.

  • I've argued for this since day one. I really don't mind the Mysterious Stranger being at them all, since they are in fact "mysterious" and linked to the Pirate Lord (who seemingly has a hideout that can connect to any Tavern) so the idea of that character quickly porting around is less of a stretch and fits the monicker. As noted, that was originally swapped too for the Tall Tale interaction at every Tavern kicking off with this character and to reduce potential Voice Work on that, but I think at this point that shouldn't be a factor and should be easy to correct. Still, as I noted, it fits for this character to be everywhere for multiple reasons.

I want for all other characters out there to be unique ones though. Sure, Larinna can be one of the Bilge Rats (and even talk about being their leader), but I'd rather have unique Reps for them around the place like everything else has.

But I suspect this is not ever going to be a thing at this point. For a few reasons, really.

  • @redeyesith I'm pretty sure a while back Rare said that they wanted a familiar face in the taverns, so they didn't make multiple Bilge Rat NPCs. I think that's a pretty bad answer, because all the company NPCs are different, but you can still tell them apart just by their clothing, and even silhouette.

Yea, I seem to recall it was something along those lines for the Bilge Rats, and I agree it is a terrible reason when it works fine every where else seemingly in the game.
