Server hopping a problem?

  • @cpt-sockmonster Perhaps it's not the fort that's the issue, but that everything else on the server just isn't up to par?

  • @galactic-geek Eh, with 4 people, you usually only go through like 2 loading screen before someone finds one. Takes 7ish minutes to find a fort with an hour+ of fun sneaking and stealing? Worth it to me!

  • @wilbymagicbear For some, those 2 loading screens = 10 minutes of pure boredom and nothing to do.

  • @galactic-geek Sounds like sailing!

  • @picklebeard22 a dit dans Server hopping a problem? :

Put yourself on the other side. If you collected the flames and the skulls fought the 6 or whatever waves of skellies only to turn around and see a unpainted ship from Ancient Spire rolling in what are your thoughts?

I would be glad to have a fight coming to me.
Fighting and PVP are what I'm looking for in this game. Everyone doing the FOTD should just accept the fact that they're going to fight against other players for it.
If you're activating the fort, you're going to do some pvp. It doesn't matter if it's a fresh spawn or not. It's an event designed to lead people and action to it.

My crew and I are server hopping to try to steal the fotd and the Athena coming with it, sometimes with success, other times not so much. If you're being defeated by other players, it doesn't matter if they were server hopping, you just weren't good enough and/or wasn't paying attention enough.

If you're not a fan of sailing, then you're playing the wrong game.

If you're constantly assaulted nonstop, you won't be able to finish the fort, will eventually run out of supplies, and you will lose. Skill isn't a factor in such a scenario. It's because server-hoppers don't have to take the time needed to cross the map - they just appear next door and attack, attack, attack. It's the lull in between that allows you to complete it. With server hoppers that lull is significantly lessened.

Well it actually happened and I was still able to win in this scenario and finish the fort. Sometimes you just have to move your ship away, search for supplies (wich are not that rare) and you can continue the fight.
In my opinion, knowing when to move, when to go search for supplies, knowing when to attack and when to defend are all parts of skill. So for me, skill IS a factor in such a scenario.

You can move, the fort is not going anywhere. You can also leave one your crewmate behind to check if anyone tries to finish it while you're gone. Solutions exists, I know they do because I've used them.
I've won impossible scenarios where we had 0 canonball, 0 food, and 5-10 planks.
I just wish I knew them back in the days when forts where not common, ahah. I would surely have won more of them !
