The Unbroken Bond achievement and other stats

  • I few days ago I just got the Unbroken Bond achievement. And with that I completed all the Tall Tales.

So I have to ask, what is up with SoT? That was a rare achievement and according to the percentage only .17% have unlocked it. To me that's a sad statistic.

It would seem that most if not all associated achievements that are associated with Tall Tales are rather low.

And for all those arena players, seriously? For Pints Mean Prizes only .10% have unlocked that one. I saw that said to myself - Sure, I can toss back a mug of grog and then turn in a chest. Done. I received that one on 8/30/2019. This is another sad statistic.

Players fishing? Hook, Line, and Sinker as of 8/12/2019 it was at .06%.

So what's going on with the game?

  • @virtuous-opha People aren't playing because it was unfinished at launch and it's unfinished now.

  • @virtuous-opha

That counter is out of everyone who's ever bought the game. That means people who play now but don't know how to play. It means people who rarely play and not enough to get bigger achievements (or check for achievable smaller ones). It means people who got burned out and stopped playing long ago, or were driven from it by its state at the time. It even counts people who bought the game and never even started it. In terms of active players, many have likely gotten those achievements.

    @WilbyMagicBear
The game is never finished, because they can always add more. However, it does have all it needs to be considered a complete game should Rare just leave it as is (though they won't).

  • @ultmateragnarok Well, I'd say the game still needs functioning opt-out, decent matchmaking, environmental fixes, a suicide button, a revamped crewing system, a revamped combat system, more than 3 voyages, and 60fps on Xbox to be complete.

  • @wilbymagicbear

The opt-out is there in Arena in its testing stage, where it has been seen that it isn't needed for the game. The matchmaking could use a lot of work, yes. The environment... I don't understand what you mean by fixes other than maybe the places where you can get stuck being fixed. A suicide button would be nice for unsticking yourself, perhaps with a few countermeasures to prevent abuse with it, but it's not a necessity. A crewing system revamp would come with matchmaking improvements, I'd assume. The combat system was fine, right now it's been broken and neglected for some reason, but it's complete enough excluding a few tweaks it needs. The voyages are fine, they aren't there for anything other than to get crews off of the outpost and moving and to give players a feeling of progression in seeing a number go up. I don't see why the game would need 60fps on XBox to be considered 'complete', but it would be nice for those who want it.

I know one reason for the tall tales one is the time commitment for them and how there aren't any checkpoints, leading to people quitting early. In general, it's because of a lot of people trying on ame pass then leaving imo.

  • Me english is very basic or low. I tried tall tales but i dont understand the books like i always have difficult with the riddles.. so i have quit the tall tales early. In sot the whole story if there is any and the people they mention i really have no clue what it is all about? I just collect loot and sail around :")

  • Tall tales takes hours to do.

You’re honestly asking about the fishing one? Fishing ALSO takes hours to do.

  • @agent-samuraii I have them all done. Yay me. TT1 and TT7 are the easiest. Actually out of all of them, TT7 is the easiest. You don't have to take something back to someone.

  • @ruigtand-nl Here's a good Tall Tales guide. I used it when I got stuck on something. Not sure what your time zone is but I would be happy to assist. I'm USA PST. Generally around Wednesday through Saturday. Unless something is going on.

I think it's never going to be finished, but you may mean it's unpolished. Sort of. :)

  • @agent-samuraii Yah, some of them do take a bit of time. Particularly TT9. Longer if you are doing it solo. If matched up with a galleon then they should go pretty quickly. Or one would think.

  • @virtuous-opha

Thank you thats a nice offer sir. Others tried to babysit me through it but i could not get in the mood or keep my attention on it. Jumping on every skellie boat i see to get something done just completely forget doing a book xD ill probably try it some day when i have a vacation and loads of free time and i can find some motivation for starting it..

  • Conqueror of threads here. This is a problem with all games on xbox. Take a look at Apex Legends. "The Player" achievement tasks you with reaching account level 50 (which is RIDICULOUSLY easy). I unlocked it 4/8/19, almost two months after the game launched, but apparently only 10.11 percent of players have reached it. 10 percent may seem like a lot compared to the stats you're throwing out, but considering both how easy it is to reach level 50, and the hundreds of thousands (if not a million or two) players the game has seen come and go, it's crazy to see how little have actually hit that landmark. It's a mystery that plagues all games on this system. Hope that helps some.

  • Another good example from the same game comes to mind. The "Jumpmaster" achievement is unlocked by becoming jumpmaster 5 times.
(For those who dont play, the jumpmaster is selected after all three players in a squad chose their legend, usually whoever got to pick last, and they loosely control when and where on the map you land.)
I unlocked it THIRTEEN DAYS after launch. By just common sense, you have a 1 in 3 chance of becoming jumpmaster EVERY MATCH you play.
So how on earth has this achievement only been unlocked by 47.23 percent of players?
    It blows my mind.

50% of players played 15ish matches or more? I'd say that's pretty good by industry standards!

  • To do all the Tall Tales once, hmmm, maybe.. But to do them X5.
No thank you. Thankfully I don't like the end reward and am happy to not feel like I have to endure them.

Granted it is a free to play game, which kind of skews the numbers due to ease of access, but with how may people play it regularly it's insane.
