Please speed up the swap to 1 second, I want to sk**t people. The swap is too unnatural and long, and it punishes good players. And hurry up with the FOV, thank you — cheaters have been able to do it for years.
Unnatural Swap Speed Punishes Skilled Players
honestly i think new players are cooked in this game either way. no weapon balance will change it or give them a realistic chance.
@kianonboard In no game is slowing down weapon swapping a good thing, and no, it wouldn’t punish new players, it would reward the truly skilled ones. Right now, any bot can even beat a pro player because it doesn’t work, and the game rewards worse players (sword, etc.).
It removes depth from combat and makes fights feel clunky instead of skill-based.
Players should be encouraged to improve their mechanics, not rely on artificial handicaps.@burnbacon If “adapting” means accepting clunky mechanics that reward worse players, then sure — call it “skill.”
True skill is about rewarding precision, timing, and decision-making, not removing them.
I’ve adapted to plenty of things in this game, but I’m not going to pretend bad design suddenly becomes good just because I can work around it.
And that’s not even mentioning the extremely frequent hit reg.@fellow77307 said in Unnatural Swap Speed Punishes Skilled Players:

Unnatural long?! Do you even know how much time is realy takes to reload and/or swap those kinds of weapons? The time is unnatural fast.
And no, it doesn't punish good players, because good players know how to fire their weapons tactical and know how to corner a player while swapping/reloading. Skill is far more then how fast you are able to click your mouse.
@super87ghost I get that the real-world time to reload or swap weapons is faster, but it’s about how it works in the game and how it affects gameplay.
When animations and timings are deliberately slowed down or unnatural, it changes the flow and tactics of fights, which can disadvantage players with fast reactions and skill.
Of course, tactics and positioning matter, but speed and smooth controls shouldn’t be artificially limited.
Skill isn’t just about clicking fast, but when the game restricts smooth actions, it’s no longer just about skill — it’s about how the game “holds back” the player.Skill isn’t just about clicking fast
And yet you seem to watch this. Fast clicking means I’m very skillful. And if some reason my brain can not do this, for say. Medical? I’m gonna be at a disadvantage all the time because the game.
So far. Game is doing right with the newer crews
While the old sweat, I’m using exploit, bypassing animation and flipping between weapons players are upset because they have to slow down….slow….down. SoT isn’t a high speed action fast CoD game.

cause it certainly was.
No it wasn't. 'Quick swap' was an exploit and thus using that was literaly cheating. Cheating is never considered part of the game.
yeah, it still was in the game no matter what u call it. and people still delay swap and stuff. its still in the game.
Maybe to OP it’s unnatural but for me it’s just fine. I would be OK if they gave the merfruit a slight buff so that players who choose to risk using it have a faster swap speed or ads as well. If they miss their board then they’re stuck in the water for a while but if they do board they get a small advantage.

Still doesn't change the fact that it's not intended. Delay swap should also be fixed. As every other thing that is not intended. Not being fixed yet, doesn't equal being fair and accepted within ToS/CoC.
And all of you who abused exploits like QS should be happy you didn't get slapped with a ban, that Rare is one of the companies going very easy on y'all.
Exploiting in a multiplayer game with any sort of competitiveness was and always will be sad and pathetic.
@l0cke547 said in Unnatural Swap Speed Punishes Skilled Players:
like how do you know its not okay at this point? it has been in this game for so long. and the devs dont care apparently. its like a swordlunge.
How? Because it's not an intended feature nor endorsed by devs.
Devs also ignore, for now, Alliance Servers that exist for a very long time as well. And they actually stated in one of the podcasts (Chapman did) if it becomes an issue they'll start breaking them apart/banning people.
No matter how much mental gymnastics you're willing to go through to justify this, an exploit will always be an exploit, and abusing it to gain an advantage over another player is pathetic, and a skill issue.
Again, y'all are just lucky they're still ignoring these exploits (due to other priorities) like they do with the Alliance Servers.

Yeah...no. Literally the ENTIRE purpose for the efforts towards removal of the quick-swap exploit and the forced weapon animation is to prevent players from "sk**ting" people. No one cares what you want when it goes against the intended game design. It's why they removed the one shot kill from the blunderbuss, too.
It's not punishing "good" players because "good" players don't need to rely on [mod edit] exploits to win fights in this game. This isn't CoD.
@l0cke547 the swordlunge was different. It was an accidental addition that they saw, liked, and kept in the game. QS however was an accidental addition that they did not like so removed it
