Exclusive cosmetics.

    Greetings everyone!
    I've started playing Sea of Thieves in 2020 right before the Summer event. I've noticed that most people only get hyped when they see old cosmetics that cannot be obtained anymore, with a few exceptions , such as the OBS 6-pack, a few remaining Ferryman Codes which both cost crazy money, etc. On the other hand, no one cares if you have the Soulflame Cutlass (for example).
    The problem here is not the design of the skins, but their availability. Why aren't exclusive rewards a thing anymore? This game has no powerups or upgrades, it is all about cosmetics. As a player, how am I supposed to feel rewarded for my loyalty to the game, when the rewards I get by doing an event on time, remain obtainable for everyone even after the event has ended? Like I've mentioned, I started playing in 2020, which means, I have nothing to show off to my friends or any new friends who are going to start playing the game, since all of them can get all the skins I have, up until today. On the other hand, older players who happened to know about Sea of Thieves and played it earlier than me, have tons of rare skins to be proud of, which are not obtainable anymore. This is what makes them really rare! There is no point in grinding skins day and night, if I don't feel like I have a specific amount of time to get them before they are gone forever. If skins always remain available to get under different commendations, then they are not valuable or rare anymore. Basically, there are no new rare skins anymore.
    I believe cosmetics, need to ACTUALLY become time limited again. Releasing a skin under the label "time-limited" and then re-release it next year, is just annoying and stupid. I know some people who cannot play the game a lot might not like what I am saying, but lets face it, this is what really makes a skin rare, valuable and eager to get. Just like the old skins!
    When I see a player with the bone crusher tattoo (for example), I feel so bad I don't have something so special, because seeing a tattoo like this once in a while , actually means something to me! If everyone had this tattoo equipped, it would just be another cosmetic. But now?? It is the freaking bone crusher tattoo!!! You feel me?
    Imagine meeting a player online and they ask you to showcase and compare skins. Ask yourself this:
    How would you feel if they brought out the Launch Crew EoR? After you do that, try to think of 1 EoR skin, which was released after 2020, that you would choose to show to them as a counter - response. The comparison is non-existent! Not only because the old skins just look better than the new ones, but mainly because people cannot get them anymore!

    Don't get me wrong. In no case I want the old skins back. This would go against my whole point. What I am suggesting, is to make cosmetics truly exclusive again. Give people a reason to die for playing Sea Of Thieves.

    Grinding for an event, leaving it unfinished, but still be able to get the skins after it is over, is just pointless!

    There were too many crying kids that wasnt playing game when limited stuff was obtainable, and rare decided to stop doing limited events.

    Yes! People keep asking for exclusives to become available again (mitigating the point of exclusiveness).

    Negative, time limited doesn't make it worth getting nor does it make it special.

    Look at all the time limited skins you have, do you wear any of them?? Probably not. If you say you do, I doubt it.

    "But its bragging rights" - Whose?? Who actually sits there and brags about a skin that they were able to get just because they were available to play??

    You didn't work for it, you didn't even have to try to get it. All you had to do was literally have time to play the game.

    If this was about tournament skins, where you had to place first place or something then I would agree but its not, you are literally asking for skins to be special ONLY because you play the game when others can't.

    You might think "oh well they should make time" - What about during the freaks snow storm in texas?? A lot of people were out of power for week or longer. There were twitch drops around that time, and without power there is no internet.

    "Well they could use their phone!!" - Oh hey yeah, unfortunately those towers work on power as well and they didn't work either.

    Few years ago there was a tornado that ripped through a city and destroyed a huge portion of the city. Those people were without even houses. But yeah lets punish them as well.

    Oh hey what about people with families?? Lets punish them as well.

    Your decision effectively PUNISHES players who don't have the time to spare or are physically UNABLE TO log in to get the cosmetic. All because you want to wave it around like you accomplished something when all you accomplished was playing the game.

    Its like you want to feel as if your participation trophy was special. Its not.

    Stop trying to punish players just because you have less responsibilities then they do.

    I have all the cosmetics they've released since launch. I don't care if other players have it. Do I want it to be easy?? No. Have it tied behind some other type of commendation and give them a chance to unlock it.

    Does it lower my achievements?? What achievement?? We literally had to do absolutely NOTHING for this.

    The Hungering Deep?? Cursed Crews?? Devils Roar?? Worthless and not even difficult to do.

    Your story is still your story whether or not someone got the cosmetic after the event.

    As long as Rare ties it behind a different type of commendation then I don't care. Release all of it.

    Sounds like the typical case of only being loyal to your own mirror image.
    I am of the completely opposite faction. Nobody is special because they have a stupid get-up that is not even looked upon most of the time anyways.

    Since most peoples are only seen as quickly moving, toxic schemes since they have the social skills of a goldfish and the ego of Xerxes himself.

    It is an insult to new players.
    Just for not knowing the game they love earlier, they are insulted.

    To for some reason find a cosmetic in the game you DROOL over and then you find out oh too bad, Rare doesnt value as much as someone else, who is EXACTLY LIKE YOU but has played the game in an earlier time.

    And since this game is also FREE TO PLAY AFTER BEING BOUGHT those earlier playing players must not necessarily be as financially SUPPORTIVE to the game as the newer player who might buy lots of stuff and buys Ancient Coins en masse since he is loaded and wants to support the game.

    All this chromatic shimering peacocks who think they are the hot fish just because they have something they smugly and spitefully know others cannot get anymore.

    @xultanis-dragon Ok, I don't know what I just read, but here it goes....

    1)I don't have a lot of time-limited items since like I said I started playing on 2020 which kinda was when the time-limited skins era was ending. The few I have I do use them and trust me, when I see someone with the Cutlass of Courage, which I couldn't get, or Forshaken Ashes Cutlass, I still want them really bad. You say you have all the skins in the game, (which I don't believe), but you don't care having them? Why do you play Sea Of Thieves again?

    1. Time-limited DOES make items special. Maybe you should go check the prices on ebay for some DLCs that used to be twitch drops as well. If people wouldn't go crazy over them, the demand wouldn't be the same hence the prices wouldn't be so high. By the way you can confirm what I am saying by watching some twitch, observe how bad people in the chat want the obsidian six pack , it is all they care about and can't wait for the giveaways, they are going nuts when they see someone with the ferryman etc. Time-limited doesn't make the skins special? Wow....In what world are you living? Do you keep up with the community at all? Do you watch any Sea Of Thieves videos or streams?

    2. You say I didn't really work for it and I didn't even have to try to get it.....Dude.....What do you think Sea Of Thieves is? A workplace? Like what do you mean I didn't work for it? What exactly do I have to do to get a skin in order for people like you to be happy? Work 8 hours per day 7 days a week and do 1000 push-ups? I grind my events and commendations, I do what Rare asks everyone to do and that is all the work that is needed. If you want to make the game harder become a developer.

    3. Snow storm in Texas and tornados? So let me get this straight. Your logic is that we should change how an entire game works, because a snow-storm might happen somewhere? And I am bad for asking exclusives back to the game because there is A CHANCE of a city getting destroyed by a tornado? Woooooow. For your information my city's grid has went down sometimes, but it is happening rarely. With arguments like them you should run for President. If you get elected, don't forget to buy Rare and give people all the Season Pass tiers for free because their city's grid might go down for a week. (Btw just because I am having a feeling about what you might say , I just want to get ahead of you and say that those phenomena are indeed terrible and I really wish I could help those people but this is not a reason to change an entire game's system because there MIGHT be a tornado.

    Before Devil's Roar, you had to complete 3 skelly fleets in each of the 3 regions, while using the appropriate sails for each region and after doing that you would get the Bone Crusher sails. Each region's fleet had a different time-zone where they would spawn. So you had to log different times in the day to complete it. That was a hard one to do compared to the challenges and trials we have today!

    1. I see you express a lot of negativity calling the skins irrelevant, being unhappy with the game's achievements and being unsatisfied with the game's difficulty as well. Maybe you should start playing another game.

      This is my favorite one out of all. You hear this everyone? This guy is saying to release everything without a second thought. You would make a great game developer!

    3. In case you didn't notice, Sea Of Thieves used to have an exclusive system for the cosmetics. Which means, what they chose from the beginning is what I want to come back. It was their original preference. I read in one of the comments that people would complain and this is why they changed it, not because it isn't a good game system. Just a reminder.

    4. I am not trying to punish anyone and whether you believe it or not I am the type of player that helps new players and gives them loot. When I sink or get killed I always say gg's and well played because I know it is my fault and it means I need to become better, since If I was better I wouldn't have died or sunk. So maybe you should ask someone to teach you some manners now that you are still in a young age because, I see you came here with an attitude, being very unfriendly, talking in a very hostile way, ready to fight till death and I really don't like it. I will just assume you act like this due to the whole COVID thing that is giving all of us hell, because if this is how you normally are, oh boy, there is no hope for this world.

    PS. I once fought with a sloop and sunk them after 15 minutes. I was on a sloop as well and it was a good fight. The sloop I was fighting against , was rocking the Festival of the Damned sails which I don't have. So after sinking them, I go to them, I say gg's guys that was one hell of a fight. Then I ask the guy: Hey man, I really like your sails, I've seen them somewhere but can you please remind me how you got them? And the guy replies: Noooo? You just sunk me I won't tell you! OOOOOOOKKKKKK??? :'D :'D

    @odyssee-mit-tee I never said I wanted to feel special I just want to be rewarded for what I am doing.
    I didn't even read the whole text because you think we are here to right poetry , at least this is what your text looked like and honestly from what I can see you've come across some really toxic people and that's a shame. I always be saying gg's with a smile, because sinking and dying is no one's but mine, I have reported many people for toxicity and racism and I always help new players and teach them new stuff, like the other day where I taught a crew that if you aim a cannon high you can take the ship's mast down.
