Not sure if this has already been discussed. This game has been out for a while, and there are a lot of topics of discussion. I'm proposing a peace flag for the game. Make it so you can't attack other people and other players can attack you. And to avoid the issue of being peaceful until you're side by side with someone and then taking it down and opening fire, you could put a proximity limit to lowering the flag. Like you wouldn't be able to take the flag down within a certain distance of someone else's ship. It's not like I don't engage in PVP. If someone has that flag up, I'll engage. But sometimes I'm just looking to do some voyages and be on my merry way. Just some thoughts.
Peace Flag
this has been discussed many times and the general consensus is against any sort of peace area or mode. It goes against the spirit of the game and would simply open up new ways to troll people. Ok so you have your safe flag up. What stops me from coming onto your boat, dropping the anchor, and then staying on it so you can't raise it? How about if I took over your helm and drove you into an island? You can't kill me remember so there is nothing you can do to stop me. How about gun powder barrels, would you then need to be made invincible to gun powder barrels?
@pithyrumble that’s pointless because players are going to attack you either way, it’s rare you find people who are passive
@darklordesatan
This could be abused so easily. You can pull it up as soon as you see a ship, you can get on another ship and hold the wheel, and many other ways to troll. Also, it removes a lot of uncertainty from this gameIt’s just not with the spirit of Sea of Thieves.
With any ship we see, we’re never supposed to be able to predict their next move, and equally we should be able to interact with them however we choose. That’s what the social aspect of this game has always been about.
The “peace” flag would make things more predictable, and would limit the kinds of interactions you can have. That’s just not right for this game.
@chronodusk
What kind of PIRATE wants a peace flag? This doesnt even make sense.......Well except @PithyRumble but i wouldnt trust her sailin up to me with a peace flag anyway. You gonna have to be far less obvious to catch me slippin
@darklordesatan there is a simple answer to this, its called the new code of conduct:
Be a good sport. Sea of Thieves is a pirate game, and stealth, stealing and battles are all part of the fun. All pirates on the seas accept that, but be a good sportsman in both victory and loss.
Pvp is just as much oart of the game as PvE no safe zones
If you pay attention to the forums, you will find more people who support PvP then people who are against it. Rare won’t put it into effect solely because there are so many people on the forums who will oppose it.
As for the peace flag, to make it fair the ship would have to be scuttled the second it’s put on and the second it’s taken down. This would prevent people from putting up the flag the second they see a player ship to protect their treasure or taking the flag down to troll another player.
Once the flag is up, no one from another crew would be able to interact with your ship or pick up your treasure. They also can’t damage your ship with cannons or kill you with weapons and the same goes for you. Anyone flying the peace flag can’t interact with an enemy ship or damage it or kill the enemy crew. And gunpowder barrels put in your ship also couldn’t be detonated by any outside of your crew and your ship would also not take damage from another player using a gunpowder barrel. Also, with the peace flag active, all treasure values and reputation would also be halved.
I feel this would be helpful for new players and streamers. I would use it when I’m fishing. I got attacked while trying to fish for blackcloud wreckers. Normally I don’t care but since it’s extremely rare to find a shipwreck in a storm, I would gladly take half of the reputation and money for those fish.

This is beacuse pvp is half of the game. Of course we support it
PvP isn’t half the game. It’s a small part of the game. Rare keeps adding PvE material. Tall tales, megs, krakens are all PvE. The forts are PvE but have the possibility of PvP.
I think most people in the forums are PvP players because you want more PvP in the game. Even the arena focuses on chests which is more PvE. You get more points for digging up chests then killing people
@coffeelight5545
Reguardless of what portion of the game is pvp its still an important aspect of the game. Allowing players to be passive or immune to others has already been tested and rejected by the devs@coffeelight5545 said in Peace Flag:

When you throw the peace flag up the screen should go back and then the skyrim intro starts playing. I feel like people just want a way to be transported into a different game.

Pvp is part of this games soul. All The Pve in this game is to get people moving about so that they may interact with each other. Be that friendly or otherwise is up to the players. Think of other players as another threat in the world that could also be a potential ally. Without the uncertainty of other players than the game will get dull. Multiplayer games always outlast singleplayer games. Pvp helps longevity a lot.
@darklordesatan so you want a cowards chicken foot symbol on your flag? Maybe they should implement draft cards we can burn.
Just putting this out there now - never gonna happen.
Rare doesn’t want PvE only servers, and they sure wouldn’t want a peace flag of any kind, no peace at all really. It’s a pirate game, both at its core and from a more outer perspective.
I hate saying this, but it is what it is. Although I enjoy the idea, I know it won’t happen. It’s still a lovely idea though!!
A peace flag though would be nice to have - just having the peace symbol for those peace loving folk! Make it tie dye colours too!
