Honestly. This game biggest issue is the constant flow of people just coming in and AFKing. Rubberbanding and spinning around and nothing you can do about it. You need to honestly add a kicking function for this and ban people who keeps doing it.
Get rid of AFKers
@iss3n
RARE has mentioned numerous times they don't want to add a Kick function for fear of players abusing it. This is absolutely absurd as any good multiplayer focused game will always have some means of "controlling" hostile or bad players.Fun fact about any multiplayer game: there will always be outlying issues with any system
If people want to abuse the kick mechanic, they will. If people want to abuse the Brig...they will. If people want to abuse AFK grinding...they will. There is no reason to make the entire community suffer for the sins of a few morally bankrupt individuals. Giving the community a tool to control these people is a far better solution than forcing us all to suffer in silence.

Your arguments also support the other side. Why should players have to suffer being kicked by others on thier crew for the sins of a few AFKers? The current setup avoids players being maliciously kicked before turn ins (“we want our friend to join and get credit instead. sry! lolol!”) but allows crews to safely contain players attempting to sabatoge them.

Wow, I stopped playing 6 months ago (just logged back in) and assumed they'd have done something.
Have they not added a 'kick from the Ferry' instruction, if someone is on there for more than 20mins? That way, at least you could kick someone who wasn't playing.
That would probably be the best idea to kick anyone who is on the ferry for more than a certain time. At least if you have an AFK person on your ship there is a chance of them getting kicked from the game.
Unless there are methods which are monitoring patterns of movement and it determines something which aren't natural movements.
AFK-farming can get you banned, it's against the ToS and Rare has flat out stated that people can get banned for such behaviour.
If enough people who see such players just report and blacklist these people those AFK players will have either no-one to play with or no game to play with. Sure it's not an imediate fix but the alternative is worse.
Imagine the following:
You join an open crew and you're dropped into a crew of 3 friends that have opened their crew up for a random because a 4th isnt availible.
You do great, get a lot of loot kill other crews and thrive. Lots of treasure on board.
Now the 3 others get a friend online and want that person in their crew in stead of you. At this moment they can ask politely or brig you and if they want to sail with that friend they probably at least have to sell to get you out of the game and why not you worked for it so you deserve it.With a kick function all your hard work will be lost. They would just kick you invite their friend and sell the loot.
So a brig function is the lesser of two evils.

I am really suprised they haven't done this. Especially as players could just down someone in the brig and therefore put them on the ferry to get kicked eventually.
Sure, some might keep an eye out and get off the ferry but it would catch a large chunk of AFKers.@ghostpaw I get the argument, but you're basically assuming the likelihood/occurance of three players being morally bankrupt and screwing someone over is also just as likely as one player being morally bankrupt and abusing the system. That simply doesnt make sense.
