server switching

  • It's complicated to cheer up with this game. Today I was on a great adventure with my friends, with strategy we managed to win a great fight against several ships, but after that, we took a fort and when we were taking the treasures to sell, the game took me from the server next to one of my companions, while the other was transferred to another, and we were unable to return to match to help him. Result, he was caught alone by the Kraken, while a pirate ship only waited to steal everything we put together, making us waste hours of play. Ridiculous, this game has more defects than qualities, we can not choose servers, but the game can randomly change server as you see fit, harming you. If it continues like this, many not only did not recommend the game, as it will abandon it

  • @mikkeferreira Great feedback. Good job.

  • @mikkeferreira
I understand how frustrating this can be and I appreciate the feedback. Sea of Thieves is constantly working to improve the issues and hopefully it won’t happen again. Good luck mate!

  • @mikkeferreira

don't get me started, I got sunk by Skellyship just yesterday! And the day before that devil's roar ended my lovely voyage. I also remember a random keg in the waters (what are the odds - well done whoever dropped it there)

As far as it comes with you crewmembers just merged off to different servers... kind of unlikely.

And be strong, suffer thru, great things await!

  • @mikkeferreira Wait I'm confused. Are you saying that you had a crew and the game took one of your crew mates and moved them to a different server and then moved you to another server??

Or are you saying that you had an alliance with another ship and the game server merged both of you and they ended up in a different server than you??

  • @mikkeferreira As @Xultanis-Dragon Said, this seems to be a very odd situation, the game doesn't split crewmembers to different servers when a server merge happens.
Only if the case was with 2 alliance crews, in this case that's very like to happen.

But there's one thing you should know about server merges:

    • Only happens in low populated ones
    • Only happens if you dropped the anchor and all your crew is at the same time, inside the ship. (Ladders included)

If any of you match this 2 points you can spend the whole time in an empty server that you won't merge to anywhere. And there's no risk of losing friends nor loot, nor activities.

  • @nunoazuldimeter The anchor drop thing is a myth. You don’t need to have the anchor dropped to be migrated.

You don't need the anchor to drop to merge, but you're more likely to merge with the anchor drop.

I think the system is broken. The other night I was merged when I had loot on an island and there was other ships on the server.

  • @bran-the-ent it sure isn't...
I do remember to be migrated even while sailing the high seas... But that was before. This year (at least with the current builds) has proven to be true...

We only get a server merge if we drop the anchor and everyone from our crew is inside the ship.
I dare you to try it.

I had, early this year, a similar discussion with someone. I though it was a myth too. But it isn't...

If I do not drop the anchor I can sail alone in the server for as long as I want. The moment I drop it, I'll instantly get a server merge notification.

If you usually tend to end up in empty servers, try it. You'll see.

  • @zormis

We had been sailing for several hours and were pretty sure we were the only ship on the server and were going to merge when we dropped anchor (rare for us). We decided to test two theories we had. We arrived at an outpost and didn’t anchor to cash in. Then we left 2 people on shore and dropped anchor. No server merge. Then we had the whole crew jump onboard, dropped anchor again... instant server merge.

  • They should take server switching off

  • @nunoazuldimeter I know this is a very old post, but I just lost my loot due to server merge and it's so frustrating, I know this case is a very special one, but it just happened.

I was in a ship battle trying to steal some loot, I was solo slooping against a 2 man sloop. I managed to defeat them by going into their ship but when they sunk, I saw mine sinking too. I was the only man alive, so I went ahead and took all the loot with the rowboat and hid it in a nearby island, then I could come back with my ship take it and sell it.

When I took the siren back to my ship, the moment I tried to set sail... bum! server merged.

Obviously, as I expected, when I got back to the stone where i hid my treasure it was not there, so I just hope someone finds it in that server, wherever it is...

  • Ahoy!
