1080p 60 fps option for XBox One X PLEASE!

  • I play my SoT on my high end gaming PC. But sometimes, I want to play in the other room on my giant 4k TV. However, playing Sea of Thieves in 4k on an XBox One X is Horrible!

The graphcis are beautiful but the game is locked at 30fps. I feel like I'm on a last gen console playing with inferior hardware. I've read all over the web and forums that no matter what you do the game will run at 4k 30 fps on the XB One X. Even if you change the console resolution to 1080p, the game still renders at 4k then down-scales so it's still 30fps.

The Xbox One (Original) and S both play at 1080p 60fps with lower quality gfx of course.

For the Love of Pirates everywhere, can you please modernize the xbox version to have options for 1080p 60fps or 4k at 30, or 4k unlocked? My Sony 4k has AMAZING upscalinig so even video at 1080p looks exactly like 4k. Let my TV do the upscaling to 4k if I choose.

Seriously, coming from high FPS on PC, to 30fps on 4k TV just makes me not want to play the game AT ALL on my XBox One X!

Thank you! (BTW, look at Monster Hunter World for ideas on how to implement the variable graphic resolutions.)

This would be the single best upgrade ever.

I don't know if the standard X-box 1 base model can handle ot, but the XBox 1S and Xbox Enhanced should be capable because of their 4K abilities.

720P @60 FPS would be awesome for the base model considering the design was released in 2013.. That means the hardware is even more potato than the 2013 release date.

Regarding the game; frame rate is more important than uber resolutions.

  • Speculating...
If the CPU is not a bottleneck for this game, it should be extremely easy to provide a 1080p@60fps mode.
With a little tweaking 1440p@60fps should be possible, too, since the graphics load between 1440p and 4K differs by roughly 2x.

  • Please have patience - Project Scarlett is on its way (where you'll have 120fps at 8k with 0 loading). 🥰

  • @exbonez one and one S are both on 60 fps? Are you sure?

False... The downscaling is a myth... But apparently you are always locked at 30 fps, regardless. : /

For real, things like this make my eyes roll heavily with disappointment.

"Seriously, coming from high FPS on PC, to 30fps on 4k TV just makes me not want to play the game AT ALL on my XBox One X!"

Which is precisely why i don't play on my Xbox One X either, lol.
Though in my defense, i only bought my XOX because it was, ironically, the cheapest "true 4k" bluray player on sale at the time. xD

  • SOT at 60fps on XBOX would be MIGHTY FINE.

All 3 Xboxs run at 30.

  • @pomalotacusmk3 that's what I was thinking too...

The XBox One S has also a true 4k bluray player...so that one would have been cheaper...

  • @exbonez Maybe a weird question, but why not hook up your PC to the TV? 120FPS 4k gaming right here and now.
