TIP: Add comments to the topics when giving Upvote to something.

  • Correct me if I am wrong, but the topics with greater visualization are those that are answered constantly. Upvote does not make the topic appear in the recent list and does not give visibility. It only serves as profile reputation.

Why I'm suggesting that you also comment on the post? It's simple! We are saturated with repeated topics. Good ideas gain many upvotes, but they always end up unanswered, always ending up forgotten.

Let's give visibility to news, good ideas, let's share good things. Forum discussions almost always end in personal attacks, and I bet the love we have for the game is the same, even if we have our disagreements.

So once again, when you find something cool, do not just give upvote. Leave a reply! Have you found a cool idea? Comment on "Great idea dude!". Your fingers will not fall and so we'll have more cool stuff to share.

  • The idea has my vote. Anything we can do get LESS topics all addressing one thing the better.

  • @targasbr

This is something I've noticed too, the most controversial topics tend to gain a lot of discussion and replies whilst some of the good ideas might just be upvoted but leave a smile on the face of the reader and an agreement.

I think it's a great way to show support of the very many talented, creative individuals in the community who sometimes make a huge amount of effort to post ideas, some of which are incredibly detailed and they really should receive credit for those - plus it also allows us to add our own little tweaks and suggestions to the original ideas!

  • @xot3rm1n4t0rox Hope this works. Maybe with this idea the the community can better understand each other.

  • @katttruewalker I can not say much, because I've already been involved in these discussions, and all I've gained is stress and enmity. Discussions are welcome, but the way they are now will not solve. Including, I apologize to you and to all the moderators/deckhands/I-dont-remember-the-other-titles for the work that I gave (and that I will possibly still give). I have moderated forums, many, by the way, and I know how this is stressful.

  • @targasbr

It's all good, thanks for the support and for your continued involvement in the community and the forums, it's appreciated and especially for great ideas like this one! :D

  • When I search the forums, I tend to go some pages back just to see things that I might've missed, and usually do reply with an opinion or with and addition to the that topic. Maybe, in the near future, they could make topics that get only up votes to become the most recent, though I don't know if it would have an impact on slowing down the whole forum or not.

  • @targasbr

I would agree, I have now tended to look back on forum posts myself to see if there are any I can contribute to.

    • The first ones of late I look for are those with few or no comments.
    • Those new to the forum, looking for general advice.

If I can help or suggest I will, or hopefully point them in the right direction. If it is generally a humorous post I'll maybe leave a deserving like for the OP., but may not actually pop a comment up as the original post has it all.

I've noticed many creative posts sometimes fall by the way side as "hotly" debated subjects that reappear get the "limelight".
It's unfortunate but it sometimes goes this way.

Either way, whether you have something to say or not.
A like for the OP is very respectful... if it is truly deserved.

  • I upvoted this.

  • @biostructr I do it too, but many users don't do, unfortunatelly :(

But also, upvote working as comment could solve this. Great idea!

  • @piratecraggy I intend to try to congratulate the idea, sometimes even mention some changes that I think are cool, complementary or show other topics with similar ideas that can be used as well. I hope this way we can have more good content instead of the usual discussions.

  • @luciansanchez82 disse em TIP: Add comments to the topics when giving Upvote to something.:

    I upvoted this.

    Best comment ever LOL

  • @targasbr yes that is true, most people don't take the time to get involved more, they could have a great idea to express but maybe they are lazy and just up vote and go with it like that.

  • @biostructr Hope this idea works...

  • @targasbr

Yip... complements & manners maketh the man/woman.

  • Well, i must admit im one of the persons who does give an upvote, but not always replies on the topic. Simply because sometimes i don't have anything to add besides "i like the idea"..

I try to comment on topics only if i have something useful to say. Now i think about it (and after reading your arguments why to reply), it is better to simply add a reply than only a upvote..

Thanks @TargasBR ! I will take your advise and try to reply more on the good ideas!

PS. More often i have the urge to reply on a topic (like today, ANOTHER crossplay topic got opened) but it is better for everyone if i just close the forum and continue with my work :p

  • @ktingaling I also used to do so, but I noticed that many of the topics are simply forgotten. Not because she was not good, but because she did not have visibility at all.

I hope this way we can make a difference.

PS: I'll try not to pay attention to topics like Crossplay / PvE Servers, as well as other unnecessary things. Maybe I just put the usual meme, I think it's funny...

  • @targasbr This is actually a great tip for newer members of our community. Leave both a like and a comment so the great topics get seen as well!

  • Aye!!! Raise me grog to a fine idea.

  • @friedwilly @murkrage Thanks!

  • @targasbr Great idea, Dude!

  • @targasbr Another feature they should adopt from reddit, among other things, is a "hot" filter that organizes threads based on a combination of reply frequency AND upvote numbers.

    EDIT: and age.

  • @xcalypt0x This is a good point, currently the 'popular' option seems to be threads with most replies rather than a combination of replies/views/upvotes, although upvoting can be subject to manipulation as can number of replies to a certain extent.

    @targasbr Great idea, Dude!

    Thanks mate!

This certainly could be done here. Great idea!
