Enable a "join a friend with a new ship" choice when starting a game

  • Hi to all,

I'm currently dicovering the game. I love it. Being free to travel, seek treasures, convey... etc. the game is full of little thing that makes it a good experience (music, funny details, visual choices) . But, something could be improved i think. Were are a group of 6 players. There is no boat that fits the number. So we tried a lot of time to connect on the same server opening six new games at the same time with a brigatine hoping that 2 of us arrives on the same server. It's very painful to do beacause it happens very rarely. It would be fun to sail with an allied ship full of firends. it can let players play from 4 to 8 on 2 diffrent ships. You already made the flag to create an alliance.

    Here is my idea:
For each player having a ship, allow him to be joined by a friend with an other ship. Set that limit to 1 firend ship maximum for each boat to keep the game balanced. It means that no more than two ships can be linked on the same server. But the couple can allie with other boats or linked boats if they want.
I hope you understand what i'm trying to explain. At he moment, it is pretty sad no being free to play with all my friends on the same map, and i'm sùre that it's not pretty diffcult to dev this. On the most part of the forum, fb groups, people are always asking for friends to run the game in a double Gallion for your information.

    Thanks for reading.
    regards, SpongeBoB

  • @ef-bobzesponge I believe that 1 additional ship should be allowed to join another. But... if your friend has a Gallion, perhaps it will not allow a second to join.

  • @expat-brat Good idea! But the option of two brigantine, or two sloop should be allowed i think.

  • @ef-bobzesponge I think such adventures will come in time once they give the PVP community the ARENA, it will make the standard realm more PVE focused and allow them to open up such a feature.

  • @expat-brat It can be alreay done. They have to crate that option for the arena mode to create flotillas i think. It's then easy to expend and limit it to adventure mode.

  • Hi to all!

I thinked about it again. An other solution can be to allow to make an alliance out of the game. The number of allied ship has to be limited to one out of the game. Then when the game start, the allied ships should be forced to join the same server, where two places for ships are opened instead of the usual one.

We can imagine to balance the idea by limiting the number of players to 6 maximum:

    1 Galeon + a Sloop
    2 Brigantine
    3 Sloops
    1 Brigantine + 1 sloop
    For exemple.

I also heard that a 6 place ship (Man'o war) is an idea of the devs. With the actual system of double joining the server, it will be a pain to deal with two allied Man'o war. For that ship, alliance should not be allowed. A single Man o' war will be a hard task to destroy. I'm not really ok with the man o' war concept above all but well...

Hope a dev saw this topic.

  • What we sometimes do is get an alliance and ask if one of us can join the other teams boat so when they quit we have 2 boats :)

  • @ef-bobzesponge

The ability for family and friends to join with their ships together on the same server has been a very popular request. It is one Rare acknowledged players want along with the ability to change ship type at the shipwright without logging out to start over.

It will come. It will just take some time as they have a lot on their plate, especially with The Arena coming early next year.

  • @ef-bobzesponge

There is a difference between an alliance and a flotilla or whatever the joining system should be named. The flotilla (i'll call it that for this) should share 100% gold and reputation, along with sharing commendations (you get commendation credit for the other ship selling items). The other crews would appear with blue gamertags (maybe) and you wouldn't be able to damage them. If you couldn't join the first ship, it would show you the option to join the other.

I have a thread on this here.

  • @ultmateragnarok I like your idea of fully shared loot, but I also dislike it. Now you have an advantage to have two ships, doing two separate quests, but increasing the games. I do want to see something like a flotilla that allows you to bring friends into the same server on another boat without having to buy another boat on your server though.

  • @nofears-fun

It is effectively an extension of the crew, so why shouldn't they get full gains? Think of it as a placeholder for a larger ship (given the hardest part to do would probably be the menus), or as if a galleon crew had two sloops, on a larger scale. There would probably have to be a limit to the amount you can have, although then the larger groups would be complaining instead.

  • @ultmateragnarok The biggest reason is, they can do double the amount of quests at the same time in two separate boats. They are not the same crew if they are able to do this.

  • @nofears-fun

Is that any different than being in an alliance of 3 ships? You get the amount of two quests while doing only one. It just takes less people. Most of the time people doing this will probably sail together though.

  • @ultmateragnarok I have been in many alliances, and very rarely do we sail together. It would be very different. Right now you only get 50% of the income and rep for work others in your alliance does. If we do it your way, you get 100%. And we both know that the flotilla idea would be abused if you gave full credit to everyone for work done in other crews. Once you join a server, the regular alliance rules should apply.

  • @nofears-fun

Given that this is meant to be an extension of the crew, rather than two crews on different voyages, it would normally most likely be a group of friends with the same goal.

  • I agree with @NoFears-Fun

The flotilla concept should be used for the PvP system.

The Allied concept should be the same as it is now to avoid an unbalanced game. But there should be a way to make it with friends before joining the game, and then be able to sail with allied friends, doing the same quest or not.

    Thanks for all those answers.
