So, this post mostly serves two reasons here on the forums:
- a warning for the .01% of people who could have otherwise replicated this glitch
- entertainment at the cost of my ship and my tears
A bit of background to start off with. My friend and I were setting up a sloop deck with about 15 powder kegs to create a pretty decent explosion (we were done for the night, and figured that we could have a bit of fun before closing shop). I had set up around half-ish of the barrels across the deck, sequentially, hoping to get a nice coverage across the entire ship.
Well... I did a good job at my gunpowder placement. Up until one barrel.
Safe to say, that was quite unexpected.
It caused the explosion we wanted, oh, spectacularly so. My friend didn't die from the blast, as he was in the crows nest, but apparently the barrels were so well spread the ship sunk in merely seconds; there was no chance of saving it. A shame neither of us got the front row seating we were hoping for :P
So, the lesson for today: don't place a powder keg at that very, very specific spot. Or, if you are (like me) someone who enjoys surprising friends with a small explosion or two, take full advantage of that spot and enjoy the ensuing chaos.
