Improving Saving Progress

  • Really enjoying the game so far! Thanks Rare and Microsoft. Haven't had any issues yet, but does anyone else think the game needs a better save progress system? I realize it saves when you get gold and increase reputation, but it does not save your treassure. For example, I found a skull on a sunken ship and I put it on my ship, then had to leave the game and when I came back online it was gone.

I’m having the same issue, my friend and I have spent a lot of time on the game and it’s rather frustrating when we leave the game and come back, everything is changed. New ship, all of this stuff we collected is no longer on the ship, etc. Have you had any luck resolving this issue?

Hi mel. No I haven't unfortunately. This exact problem is why I am hesistant to buy anything whether its clothing, weapons, ship flag, etc. Also, when you start a voyage, you have to finish it in the same session! My advice is to wait for an update and hopefully Rare will address this.

Ugh! That’s so aggravating, I’m assuming it’s because the game is still in beta. Hopefully soon they will address this, they’ll lose many people if they don’t.

When you leave the game, you leave the game. It's like complaining that when you start a new match in PUBG you don't keep your guns from last time.

Everything you purchase that is cosmetic, from ships, to clothes, to weapons, all stay and save to you, none of it will go away.

The only things that don't stay is the voyages and your haul, you need to make sure you turn everything in before you log out. It does suck, but 1 thing I wonder about as to the reason: If you are getting attacked and have a huge haul, you could just escape out and come back to a different server, your haul still on your ship, no longer being attacked. Players could use it as an out every time. It gets rid of the risk. Unless they increased the risk and say if you log out with a haul, your ship stays in the game for 5 minutes before it logs out with you.

  • @t-degennaro3106 Yes, of course, you are leaving a server. When you return, everything is new. I've scuttled ships before because I needed fresh supplies. Items disappear and regenerate over time. Some items faster than others. So don't expect things to last off your ship if you leave them. Or you ship to remain when you leave.

Please read/watch Tips and Tricks about the game and learn more about the game's behaviors, rules, and physics for a more enjoyable experience.

  • That would be cheating, say I completed three gold hoarder voyages, I have a Hull full of chests and on my way to an outpost I get attacked. All I would have to do is quit the game, reload it, and turn in my chests? That's stupid, racing toward an outpost with a ship full of loot hoping you don't get spotted by an enemy ship is part of the adventure. No, the way it is right now is perfect.

  • Saving your loot isn't really an option. All that would lead to is people quiting when then are under attack and reloading in a new world for an easy sell. There is also the problem of who does it save it to, the host? The last person who touched it. You could have 4 people quit out and reload into different games thus duplicating the loot or random people you meet picking up all the loot and dropping it so it becomes theirs and then leaving.

  • I think there is too much opportunity for abuse without a safeguard in the system. Others have mentioned the quitting right when being attacked would become a staple.

I think it could be balanced if the ship does not save immediately when the player left. It would still be in the world for 5 to 10 minutes which could allow it to be looted or sunk and then it saves based on that condition. That way the loot could still be taken and the ship could be attacked.
