What happens in a Raid if ...

  • Someone kills that skeleton captain and runs off/sails away with the key before unlocking the door the key is needed for?

Im guessing these raid events will happen periodically, but what are the circumstance for resetting the current Raid.

Ill elaborate ... could someone steal the key and becuase/if the key is needed to finish that raid from unlocking the door (cycling of the raids wise i mean), have they just trolled everyone and no more raids will spawn for that server.

Or does killing the skeleton captain 'end' that raid so hypothetically someone solo can steal the key and/or hide it and return to the fort when its safe to collect their loot as a prize for being sneaky and patient?

It is one of the main things im looking forward to, an all out brawl!

Edit: just clarifying, stealling the key however not using it to actually unlock the door

Interesting question and very trollish of you sir.

I suppose the first thing would be getting the key back to the boat. with others around, you know that eyes will be on you, try to run and you'll likely end up on the ferry.
But IF you do then what?
Probably a very long ship chase and eventual battle, if the key doesn't despawn.

I'd hope like a chest, it remains in game until cashed in and no other raid (in that fort) could take place until then either.

  • I asked myself this question too.
for the events of the strong skeletons the ill-intentioned players could have poured the boats of the other player during the event of the blow that would render useless the farm of the camp not?

  • @laughsmaniacaly Im sure itll happen often that someone out of sight of other pirates manages to kill the captain, in which case you can just quickly dump the key in a bush or somewhere else out of sight

I curious for 2 reasons, wont be the first thing overlooked by RARE and opens up trolling if they can actually prevent anymore raid ever spawning on that server if someone did manage to dump the key in the ocean somewhere

And 2, im planning on mostly playing solo, occasionally duo, and speculating options as no chance a solo person could empty the vault by themselves with others around. If stealing the key and hiding it is an option, then everyone else likely will move on with their lives if you have successfully hidden the key and come back at a later time when everyone is either now doing other things or all sailed off to the new raid.

Wall of text I can only apologize

  • @uvg-reign I would guess that killing the captain, not opening the vault, triggers the end of the raid.

And that is what Im hoping and that raids are implemented in that way. But Im sure others has similar concerns

I'd guess the same according to how voyages work.

  • I would think that the door would open automatically either immediately after you have killed the Skelly Boss or if he does drop a key, immediately as someone touches it - so there would be no way to run off with the key and come back later so to speak....

No you have to take the key and place it in the door to open it. Look at the last video of SoT Youtube channel it's all in it.

  • Another question. Is each key unique to the fort? Or can I take the key and unlock the vault on some other fort, if you are allowed to leave with it? I would imagine it only work on the fort you got it.

  • @aenima123 Oh well that changes things.... erm yeah I am running off with that key

  • @uvg-reign My crew (happens to be my kids) were talking about this yesterday on the way to school. Clever little b*****s, they were scheming how to grab the key, hide it in the bushes, create a chase, come back for the key and loot later.

  • @touchdown1504
    You are raising pirates. 😉

  • Would be an interesting tactic if it works. To steal the key and come back when everyone has left the fort claiming the prize for your crew alone. Im kinda hoping this isnt the case, because i feel like it could kill the experience if people just stop going because they always get trolled

    -Captain Swag Pants (RitchieSH)

  • @ser-swag-pants I consider that good strategy, specially if youre solo and youre the one who killed the pirate captain.

However if stealing the key and hiding it indefinitely stops any other raids on teh server spawning, then I agree that is trolling

  • @thor-von-blitz I am raising manipulative little monsters, not intentionally!

  • I have a question (even though I'm sure I know the answer) will people be able to raid other player's ships and possibly...commandeer them, and if so will the raided ship be added to the conqueror's fleet? I'm thinking about preordering, but I want to make sure it is worth it first.

  • @neogamerguy No, a ship is that specific crews spawn point for if they die. And if their ship has sailed off for whatever reason without them, a mermaid spawns in the ocean for them to teleport back to it. Thats the basic mechanics on the matter anyway :)

  • Big ol' McSkully cloud should follow whoever is holding the key if they're out at sea.

Then they become the raid ;)

  • I was wondering same thing. can I just hoard keys and come back later? We will prob have to wait and see. Good question though

  • @uvg-reign Really?! A mermaid teleports you back to you boat? That is kind of cool, so I hope you are not just pulling my peg-leg.

  • Me and my friends did this last night, we took the key and planned to come back but in an encounter on our way back to the fort about 10 minutes after the raid one of us stayed on a random sland with the key while we fooled the other ship to sink us so they though we didn't have the key. After they respawned and picked me up about an hour later the skull reappeared on the same fort as no one had claimed the loot. We came to the fort, sunk the other ship, used the old key and took off with as much as we could. Eventually someone sunk our ship so 2 of us swam with the stronghold items towards the nearest island while out other friend picked up us there with the ship. Long story short is that the skull will respawn on the same place after about an hour or so.

  • To partially answer the question you didn't quite ask. Me and my brother beat a raid the other night and had to take off with the key to avoid being killed. We eventually decided to use the key at another fort since we were pretty sure the other one wasn't safe. Unfortunately this turned out to be a monumental waste because it consumes your key but there is no treasure in the room. The only forts that have treasure are ones that have/had raids.

  • @xcalypt0x Read my above post, don't make my mistake :'(.
