I’m posting this here because support has now closed my ticket and refused further investigation.
On 16 May 2026 I encountered and killed the Shrouded Ghost after thousands of hours playing Sea of Thieves since launch.
However:
- I received no commendation
- no title
- no reputation
- and no reward credit
At first support advised waiting 72 hours for server synchronisation. After the wait passed, nothing appeared.
What makes this more concerning is that during the same session I experienced other backend syncing problems:
- I purchased a supply crate and gold was deducted correctly
- I immediately sold the crate back
- the gold was NOT returned to my balance
This suggests there were account or server synchronisation issues occurring during gameplay at the exact same time as the Shrouded Ghost encounter.
I provided screenshots and videos to support, but was repeatedly told the commendation cannot be manually granted unless there was a “known wider server issue”.
I understand support policy and I am not asking for special treatment because the Shrouded Ghost is rare.
What I am asking is whether anyone from Rare can properly review the gameplay telemetry or backend logs from that session to determine whether the encounter failed to sync correctly.
After thousands of hours played, finally encountering the Shrouded Ghost only for progress to fail due to a possible backend issue is incredibly frustrating.
Has anyone else experienced missing rewards or commendations during obvious server desync situations?
