Campaign out of Adventures

  • In the past, we have had multiple limited time adventures that told the story of the sea of thieves. Once that content event ended and the season moved on, that content was lost to time. An with safer seas being a thing, ghost figures of characters being a thing (Merick, pirate lord and Belle) and quite a few adventures leading into tall tales (shores of gold, pirates of C adventures, monkey island) and other such events, I feel it is time we go back and solidify our history of limited time adventures into a legit tall tales campaign.

    Now the way this would work is we would have multiple libraries around the sea (think how we have the tavern bookshelf). You choose your tall tale and chapter like any other tall tale location, and then from there an intro will start where you might be forced to sail to the location or sale through the sea of the damned portal to reach it (due to a change in server considering some adventures included structures no longer in game aka golden sands and Merick’s ship to fight the shrouded ghost. Now there will be separate servers shrouded in fog around the playable area for any unique structures so you don’t wander off. It can be either a Red Sea or just a wall not allowing you to move forward.) From there, some tall tales might be introduced by Merick, Belle, or the pirate lord be it on your ship or where you need to meet them at a certain location.

    Akin to past tall tales, commendations will be re-enabled and expanded on with a properly themed cosmetic pool for each tale. Ergo, we are not just playing each tale 5 times just to earn a single cosmetic but each chapter will feature 1 time completions, possible secret completions, and the 5 time completion for cosmetics. How it properly should be.

    Mechanics on some items will be changed to better smooth the tall tale. For example, hungering deep, the journal notes you collect to find out about the Mother Meg, are also turned into the music sheets for the hungering deep summoning song. This way it makes the tale smoother than having to hold the rhythm while sailing. Another one would be the Ashen crew investigations, you’d find stitcher Jim’s lair at the end. Or in cursed crews, we find, follow and battle Wanda and lead to us finding her secret hide out. Ect.

    My over all intent with this feedback/proposal is to implement a standard story into sea of thieves. So while yes, we may all have our own adventures outside of tall tales, but at least with this, no one is lost in the weeds in this world on what happened to the other stones that were apart of the mask in the Athena’s mission or who Merick is. Not to mention re-using assets will cut down on dev time, and save new asset creation and would extend base play time on average for sea of thieves players.

    Majority of those missions have been recon and removed so they no longer needed to know about.
