Order of Souls Update

  • It has been around a year since the hunter's call became a fleshed-out faction with 3 unique voyages, a special grade V emissary ability to find ancient megalodons, and the full roster of raid voyages. since then, the reapers bones have gotten 2 PVE voyages, and the not-a-faction smugglers have their own voyage.

    Now, let's observe the order of souls. can anyone name one unique experience the order of souls offers? everyone fights skeletons, and Ghost Fleets voyages are just a diet version of a world event that can be done on demand for any other company.

    So, once again, I ask for an OoS update, and here is an update concept.

    First off, new voyages that are actually unique

    Assassination Missions
    This Stealth voyage takes place on an inactive skeleton fort, where a large force of skeletons has gathered with a skeleton lord brooding in the main fort structure.

    for this voyage in particular there is a massive damage multiplier applied to the first attack to this boss IF it is done while the skeleton lord is not actively aware of the player's presence. there is also an additional headshot damage bonus for guns and backstab damage bonus for the throwing knives.

    The objective is simple: sneak past the skeleton guards using any means necessary and take out the skeleton lord. a headshot with an eye of reach or backstab with throwing knives is all it will take. beware of lantern wielding guard skeletons, as the light from their enchanted lantern forces you out of disguises, sneaking and disables the effects of mimic darts. if you are stealthy, this voyage will be a piece of cake. mess up and you have to deal with a horde of skeletons and a powerful skeleton lord.

    **Tracking Missions (rework of skeleton lord bounty voyage) **
    Similar to the cursed rogue tall tale, this voyage takes you across multiple islands tracking the whereabouts of a dangerous skeleton lord. Interview locals and kill skeletons loyal to the lord; use their notes as clues. The lord drops a high value skull and keys to chests uncovered during the tracking process filled with even more skulls.

    Island Exorcism (Ghost ship voyage Rework)

    stage 1: take out the waves of ghost ships just like the voyage currently works

    stage 2: going to the island to fight large amounts of phantoms, ending with facing the Phantom riddle master who drops a Riddle quest.

    stage 3: the fleet's second wave start with the flagship and grunt ships appearing for the final wave of naval combat. defeating this ship gives you many skulls and a damned captain skull.

    stage 4: complete the riddle quest to unearth the chest of dark relics, all while being assaulted by desperate phantoms.

    Final stage: find the chest's location, and face the Phantom Captain in a final duel, where defeating him drops another damned captain skull and a key to open the chest of dark relics, with the haunting broken by unlocking the cursed chest.

    New skeleton lords to face!

    Currently, the 3 skeleton lords we have are very boring, but the new skeleton lords I propose will all be unique in their weaponry and fighting styles.

    The Shot-Caller
    A deadeye skeleton lord with a horn of fair winds for a hand and a super accurate eye of reach in the other. uses the horn as a propellant for high jumps across the island, shooting deadly eye of reach shots from the air. get too close to her and she will knock you back with the horn. best way to defeat the shot-caller is with an eye of reach of your own.

    The Ragebound Renegade
    one of Red Ruth's many experiments was using pieces of a chest of rage as armor for a skeletal juggernaut warrior. turns out, a skeleton fused with a chest of rage has severe anger issues, so the project was abandoned after this thing escaped. This thing attacks with Strong melee blows and attacking it only makes it explode like a chest of rage. best bet is to cool it off with a lot of water until it becomes docile enough to kill with a single blow, as without the power of rage it's as weak as a normal skeleton captain.

    The Venomous Lush
    pretty simple idea here: Plant skeleton lord with a few snakes wrapped around his body.

    Of course, there are many more possibilities with diversifying the roster of skeleton lords, perhaps revisiting the original 3 would be a good idea as well.

    And finally, in this update, grade V order of souls' emissaries periodically get a Messenger Raven to fly in and perch on their ship with a special high value bounty.

    Technically yes, but with new unique mechanics besides “go to island, kill skeletons until boss skeleton appears, then kill that”
    Stealth, detective skills, and all sorts of other neat stuff is packed into the new content.

    If you want to get really technical, both riddle and x marks the spot gold hoarder voyages include a treasure beneath the sand one way or another, and commodities, cargo runs and merchant contracts are still just point A to point B errands, it’s the differences that make them fresh
