I am new to the forum but not the game. Is this the game now and wish the devs would make a change but I know it will not happen

  • We keep getting chased for nothing. Kraken has been on use ever time we get chased. We can never seem to loot at all now.

My husband refuses to play this with us because of things like I am going to mention happening over and over.

Today alone. My son wants to play. We load to play. I am in first. Before we can leave port our ship in being bombed. Worse, is that I had been in a little over a minute. Was not even at the ship yet. My son had just loaded in. Play ran over and killed right after he woke up and was leaving the tavern.

They proceeded to kill him at spawn again and then again. They killed me and jumped up and down on my body. I could hear these grow men laughing. Is this the player base left on this now? Because this has been entirely the kind of players we have ran into.

We get back on our ship when it reloads. And set sail. Same group is on us in about 4 blocks. On top of that they kill us again and try to keep killing us. Repairing our ship. We had no loot, no flag, nothing yet. Were sailing to the port in devils roar.

I left the game and my son respawns. I was going to get back on but they came to his ship and was doing the same thing.

He left and we loaded a new server. 5 Star reaper he told me. They were over 8 blocks diagonal. We set sale the opposite direction to go fishing. They turned and came straight at us the entire time. Sinking us as we got to the island south of the port in devils roar. They not only sunk us. But they were killing us at first repeatedly. 3 times. We waiting on the ferry to see and they finally sank the ship.

Loaded a new server no reapers, looking because if there is they have been literally coming clean across the map directly to us every time for the last 3 weeks. Set sale for devils roar. 2 blocks in being chases by a ship that came from behind an island. More of the same. And then it was a skeleton ship, followed by the Kraken. Plays just boarded us and killed us.

My son told me "I don't think I really want to play this." I was talking to some friends and their kids had stopped playing as well because of this stuff. They said they would play but it has been these things for them as well. Thinking the game may be missing some potential players that would buy some stuff if not for the toxicity.

  • The game design and intent for Sea of Thieves is a shared world adventure, and it always will be. Those who wish to play in the confines of Safer Seas will always have the option but we will not bring the rewards and activities in line with those of High Seas when many of the restrictions are in place due to the risk vs reward factor that is inherent in Sea of Thieves - removing any risk means rewards must be balanced accordingly.

Safer Seas will act not only as a safe space for our Tall Tale players but also for families with children who just want to pirate, for people who want to play the game but learn the ropes and it will organically feed into Adventure mode, keeping the player pool there healthy and upskilled as they've learned the mechanics.

This is not only useful for new players but also families and players with accessibility needs - the whole game suddenly becomes available in a way it hasn't before, letting them naturally progress to High Seas and become a Pirate Legend. SoT has grown a huge amount in 5 years and it can be fairly overwhelming.

The borders put in Safer Seas mean that to experience the full depth and breadth of the game you will have to hit the high seas BUT if you're playing with your family you don't have to, you can just enjoy the game and have fun as a family.

If you believe a player has been toxic in the game or suspect foul-play, you can report them to Xbox Live here. You can also submit a support ticket via Rare Player Support. As this is a matter for Support and not the Forums, I'll be dropping anchor here.
