Please make Reaper Fortress keys visible on the map.

  • Me and a friend had half the server after us while completing the fort, and while we were fighting others, someone completed the fort, and hid or swam away with the key. We looked for the key for over half an hour and were not able to find it, with the chance the fort was a mega stash, we did not want to leave the server to look for more fortresses, but eventually decided that it would be impossible to find the key, as we looked all over the fort and did not find it. Please make the key visible on the map, with the amount of loot promised it should be visible, just as Fort of Fortune keys and Fort of the Damned keys are.

  • So..someone out played you and hid the key, waiting for to leave so they can take all the Loot.

we looked all over the fort and did not find it

Most likely..they took and hid it off the island.

Understandable you want easy way to locate the key, but for a new fort thing such as this, I wait for Act 3 to finish and they can later make this change.

  • @burnbacon The problem is they never came back to loot the fortress, we waited like another 45mins behind an island not far from the fort, but out of view from any angle they would be coming from, but no one ever came back, so there was no "outplaying" because no one even decided to take the loot.

  • @rin-baggs Also we did not have an emissary, so they would not have been able to see us on the map

Honestly, why should it be visible for the Reaper Fort? They are upgraded OG Forts, and are only going to be extra special during the current update due to the Mega Stash Event & them having the Chest of Fortune. Once this update is over, they'll lose a lot of their value and thus fits into the specialty of being brand new regular forts.

  • I completely agree, the key should be visible on the map. The issue is, the fort spawns very frequently, and quite honestly, is very easy to complete. There isn't much incentive to come back with the key if you see evidence of someone contesting the open. I'm assuming the fort won't be as frequent after this season, but it's still very much an issue.

Again, I'm pretty sure these Reaper Forts are replacing the OG Forts going forward, so they are as frequent as OG Forts were... We're just now really noticing the frequency because we actually care about these Forts. The OG Forts were heavily nerfed in terms of gameplay and loot over the years to a point of becoming irrelevance (the only worthwhile loot commendation you could get from them was just the Rags & Bones Crates), and the original loot pool of them were just awful (A few Stronghold pieces & a bunch of junk you can get anywhere).

I honestly hope this stays as the case, and that the OG Forts are left as Raid Voyages only (which will make it easier to tell the difference between a natural event & a raid voyage, outside of the Athena's version of Reaper Forts)... Now, if only the OG Fleet event gets the same upgrade. I miss the old Fire Fleets or just the old Fleets in general that were actually fun, difficult, etc... They got so heavily nerfed down the most out of all of the events.

I agree with all of this, but it doesn't affect my opinion about the key. The fact that the old fort didn't have the key on the map doesn't have anything to do with the Reaper fort. FotD didn't have the key on the map at the start, but they realized the issue quickly and updated.

  • This change to fort keys was dumb.

Experienced crews are intentionally griefing the key, just as should have been expected.

Had a crew admit to it last night. Waste of two hours of fighting. They left the server and never unlocked the vault.

Regular fort keys have never been visible on the map.
