Multiple character slots

  • We all know that many cosmetics in the game are clearly designed with either male or female characters in mind. To enhance customization and player expression, I think that introducing multiple character slots as a purchasable option in the Ancient Coin Shop—perhaps for 2,000 Ancient Coins—would be a highly sought-after addition.

This feature would allow players like me, who love customization, to switch between different characters while maintaining shared progression across all purchased slots. Since cosmetics are the core of the game's progression system, I truly believe that many players would happily embrace this.

and yet, Anyone can wear anything, just like how pirates would wear whatever because it was stylish or they needed something. Or as a memento.

So pretty much remove Appearance potions?

Sounds more like replacing them with the ability to buy customization slots, which would understandably cost more.

I just want cosmetic loadouts for pirates and ships...

  • I would say have 2 slots for free to start with, and if people want any more, then sure, throw the ancient coins at them if you want.

  • I suspect this is coming soon, based on rumors on twitter.

  • I 100% support this. There are plenty of times where you might want to play as a female or male pirate when your 'default' pirate is the opposite, or simply a different body style just for the hell of it. Like a twiggy chick or a big ol' meatball dude. I'm very fond of my current loadout (went though multiple appearance options to get him just right over the years, so no @BurnBacon, there's no reason to replace them) and have zero desire to lose him by re-rolling the IPG yet again, but it would be nice to occasionally to get some use out of the three pages of dresses I've unlocked through seasonal progression and Twitch drops that would look absolutely ridiculous on my current guy but would be interesting to see or use on a female figure with a stature designed for its use.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to change up your character selection sometimes without losing the one you've put so much effort and time into.

Edit: I always see the same three annoying responses on topics like this as alternatives to implementing this, so let me save anyone the trouble of suggesting them:

"Just put your guy pirate in girl clothes/girl pirate in guy clothes."
-- No. That's stupid. It looks stupid. Historical accuracy of Anne Bonny aside, this is a fictional video game and I don't want my huge hulking pirate dude in a skirt but would like to someday get use out of the three different ones I've unlocked in my clothing box.

"Just re-roll your character using an appearance potion."
-- No. That's stupid. As stated above, I've gone through several to get my current loadout and like him just the way he is. Using one now to play as a female character once every few weeks when the mood strikes me is not worth losing all the work and REAL money I invested in getting my current primary toon just right. And I shouldn't have to be expected to lose him to play as another one, honestly.

"Just start a new game with a different account/login from scratch."
-- No. That's stupid. Again, as mentioned previously, I've got years of different outfits already unlocked on my current account that I would like to use that I would NOT have access to from a different new account, several of which are unavailable for purchase or unlocking now due to time-limited events/drops or just simply not wanting to spend doubloons on repurchasing something from a previous season I've already unlocked for free on my "main" account. And again, I shouldn't have to be expected to.

It's a request that has absolutely zero effect on any other person's game, playstyle or session other than their own, so there's not really any particular reason not to implement a relatively common request such as this.

  • @goldsmen sounds perfect

  • @honestauntyelle how so?

  • @thegrimpreacher this guy gets it 😭

  • Low Key would love to be able to pull a Marley.

  • Best suggestion I've seen on here in a long time

  • 2000 AC is way too much but I'm down for the idea. I think multiple character slots would not only allow for more creativity out of the community, but if they allow you separate progression, you could also eliminate the alt account creating process from Steam and cut back on cheating. I know a lot of people that like to make alts for challenges and speed runs so they can't just outright remove and force people to buy SoT twice or delete their main. But also I know a lot of people definitely use steam account system to cheat/exploit with less risk.

  • @fysics3037 yeah i see what you're saying, maybe you get the first one for free and then spend either gold coins or ancient coins to get more spaces? (A fixed amount)

  • @crowswave that'd be chill ngl

I would say have progression separation as an optional choice, but if you merge progression it would merge with the first/main character you made.

  • @goldsmen yeah I was thinking it could be optional too

  • @goldsmen Yeah, that's an actual great suggestion

  • Strongly approve this suggestion !
I love my character and I don't want to lose it however sometimes I really would like to have another slot with another skin and keeping my progression as well

Nah, keep the potion for when you want to change the appearance of one of your currently saved pirates. I had to use one since my first one looked pretty ugly, but got a much better one after sorting through different options. I kept him ever since, and loved how he looked with his mask. He also can make a menacing snarl too.

  • @arthur79474 completely agree, the potion doesn't need to be removed, if anything this might bring more eyes to it if you can have multiple characters at once and want all your characters to look good or simply different

  • I think this option is very important as a Roleplay element, but I think there should be a maximum of 2 or 3 slots, going beyond that number seems like an exaggeration to me... I also don't know if charging for this seems like a good idea, I think they will start to profit more from selling potions with two slots than they do currently.
